Torre should have inserted Sierra in the 7 Hole and asked Giambi to sit this one out

Giambi Vs Pedro is like an automatic out ... at least Sierra would have a shot at getting a hit

Torre benched a struggling Tino and inserted Cecil Fielder during the 96 WS ... should have pulled the trigger again

The mere fact that Torre dropped Giambi to #7 tells you he has no confidence he can get a big hit tonite ... so why the half-steppin ... Just go the whole nine yards and make a change, Ala the 96 WS

Really smart move Torre. First off this makes the bottom of the lineup more formidable. Second, It's a great motivational ploy by Joe. Torre's has nothing to lose by making this move. If it doesn't work, It hasn't been working anyway but if it does. Then that's great.

Since Torre was willing to make such drastic changes for such an important game (which I'm fine with) I would have went a step further.

First off Soriano should NOT be batting lead off tonight. Pedro owns this dude, Soriano is a strikeout machine against him. We need a guy who will work Pedro early inthe line up and who has a great chance of getting on base.

My lineup would have been something like

1- Jeter
2 - NJ
3 - Bernie
4 - Soriano (It will be hit or miss with soriano here. He'll either strike out, or get a hold a one and send it a long way hopefully with runnners on)
5- Posada
6 - Matsui
7 - Giambi
8- Wilson
9 - Garcia

Yes. Get him out of the lead off spot because we need somebody who can get on base early in the line up. Which Wilson can do.

In a game like this i want sorianos talent in there. Just not ina lead off spot....

Traditionally your clean up batter should be your best home run hitter, and next to giambi its soriano.....

You can do that but I want atleast one power hitter in the 3 or 4 spot. Bernie and Matsui dont provide much power.
