I'm all for pride in the country. I just don't let it blind me to reality. The only useful lesson of Reagan's presidency is this: Style matters more than substance. Don't tell people the truth. Tell them what they want to hear. Con politicians (and their mouthpieces) have been doing it ever since and some of you have been drinking the kool-aid while the whole country takes it up the backside from the people you have empowered.
Well Bob to an extent I agree with what you are saying. Mondale told the truth about his plans for taxes. And he got slaughtered in the election. |

All politicians "lie" and cater to special interests, etc. What can you do?? You can drive yourself crazy if you think about it too much....
I HATE the two-party system. It's awful. No meaningful change will ever occur in this set-up. |

Head-Bob The Jets Fan. You still haven't answered my question. But I will for you. The only fiscal policy act taken by Clinton was his raising of taxes and most breathing persons not to mention those of us that went to Bla ba de bla U., as well as supply or even demand siders would say not a way to foster growth.
BTW, I am pretty sure that the president can't pass a budget w/out approval from the congress and during Reagans presidency it was majority Democrats who had no problem adding their porkbarrell projects (Ask Teddy About that Boston Tunnel Project still going on). Also, if I read most of you dems right, you agree that the military spending was necessary and the primary reason for the fall of the soviet union. So as far as the increase in military spending goes. This is a non-issue as it was a necessary evil. And Bob how about some factoids when you rant about being lied to and being told what you want to hear. Start with what you would have done differently than Reagan as far as the Cold War. And please dont go into any flower child b.s. Lastly, dont worry libs we americans that have the ba_lz to do the necessary will continue to spill our blood so that you can recite your nonsensical rhetoric |

Actually, Gore never claimed to have invented the Internet. That's just another con lie. Clinton's economic policy was largely based on paying off the enormous national debt that Reagan had run up (more than all his predecessors combined), returning the money that was paid for debt service to the larger economy. He was making good progress, too. The result was prosperity. Of course, Gee Dubya had to put a stop to that because rich corporations and their shareholders are the ones holding that debt and collecting the vig. Reagan was the worst president in history, until the current one.
Feel free to ignore that by every economists opinion I have ever read, the economy was tanking while Clinton was still President. What exactly did Bush do in his first 3 months in office to "put a stop" to all that good stuff? As for Reagan. The rapid increase in military spending was directly related to the Soviet threat (which was real) and the obscene cuts to military spending in the previous administration, which in turn, emboldened the Soviets. I'm sure in your mind the threat of MAD (Mutually Assured Destruction) was trumped up in order to satisfy some political agenda. And anytime Carter is in the mix, no other President can ever be coherently called the worst. |

2) he marginalized the defense of America- after Reagan/Bush defeated communism clinton thought he'd be on easy street and no matter how they want to say "he was very concerned about the war on terror", actions speak louder than words and he did nothing to stop the muslim-scum wahabi's.
And what did Bush do prior to 9/11?
While much if often changed in the first 8 months after inauguration (compared to 8 years), ah forget it. |

You mean the seven months GWB was in office compared to the 8-years blowjob bill was in the WH?
Yes that is exactly what I mean. You say 7 months is not long enough to atleast have a plan? Hell in less than a week they already had a plan to invade Iraq and even divied up the oil fields. Maybe you are right though, 7 months is not a long time especially considering he was on vacation 42% of the time.
I thought you said they were working on that plan for 10 years? I can't keep up with you guys. |

Well, what I was saying was that within a week in office there was already a plan in place. I don't know who drafted it or where it came from, but it was agenda item #1 at the first cabinet meeting. |

I think the house of Saud concocted the plan in conjunction with the house of Bush in a plan concocted to take over the world. In the new world order the House of Bush and The house of Saud will rule as emperors. Only the rich will be given oil the rest will have to use bicycles and such. All will bow to the emperors. |
