Week 1

Huskeralk's Raiders @ Penning10's Saints

Week 1 saw Huskeralk's Raiders visiting Penning10's Saints. The Saints started strong with a big run by McAllister into the Raiders redzone. The Raiders D held strong and force Karney to hit a FG to put the Saints up 3-0.

The Raiders Offense struggled early in the game and couldn't get anything going in their first two possessions. The Saints were able to mount a drive that put them up 10-0. However one of the biggest plays of the game came on the following kickoff where Phillip Buchanon took the kick 100 yds to the house to put the Raiders on the board.

The Raiders offense finally started clicking a little and Huskeralk managed to drive the ball into the Saints redzone for a game tying FG at the end of the first half.

The second half was a whole different animal. The special teams erupted. Penning10 returned 2 punts for TDs with "The Beerman" Michael Lewis while Huskeralk responded with one punt return for a TD with Jerry Porter. With just under 2 minutes left Huskeralk trailed Penning10 27-24. With the help of some strong running by Charlie Garner the Raiders found themself inside the 20 yd. line when Huskeralk nearly blew the game. Thinking he had one timeout left he tries to call it to no avail so in a panic he just picks a play. The team comes to the line and he snaps the ball. What's this? It's a running play!! Frantically Garner runs down the line of scrimmage with defenders on his tail and steps out of bounds with 2 seconds left on the clock. After regaining his cool Huskeralk hits a chipshot FG to send it into overtime.

Overtime!

Penning10 won the toss and elected to receive. Huskeralk's D managed to put the clamps on the offense just short of the 50 after the punt the had the ball on their own 35. Charlie Garner took over at this point with a couple big runs. With the help of a desperation pass to Porter and another nice run by Garner the Raiders found themselves in the redzone where Huskeralk immediately called for the FG. Janikowski came out and drove the victory home for Huskeralk's Raiders.

30-27

Stats:

Huskeralk's Raiders

Gannon - 15-24 128 yds. Sacked 4 times

Garner - 17-134 yds. 1 td

Jolley - 6 receptions for 62 yds.

Rod Woodson - 1 int.

Janikowski - 3-3 FG

Buchanon - 4 KR for 168 yds. 1 td.

Porter - 2 PR for 97 yds. 1 td.

Penning10's Saints

Brooks - 9-18 101 yds. 1 td. 1 int.

McAllister - 8-118 yds.

Stallworth - 1 reception for 55 yds.

Charles Grant - 3 sacks

Karney - 2-2 FG

Lewis - 5 PR for 179 yds. 2 tds.

Hell of a good game Penning10, I look forward to playing you again later in the season. You need to do something about that headset though.

VinnyO25 Texans 21 Barkus Cowboys 17

Very close well played game. Couple key turnovers for both teams. Texans coughed it up on the 1st drive at the cowboys 1 foot line but then got the ball right back with a pick inside the cowboys 20. Hambrick had a big run but coughed it up at the end. Nice defensive stand at the end by Vinny. I had the ball at my 35 with 1:50 left but was unable to get a first down.

Stats:

carr 16/27 207yds 2td 1int

Week 1 Monday Night Football (actually played on Monday Night no less)
New HENDUork Giants 14 at TRADES Bay Buccaneers 30

1st 2nd 3rd 4th Final
Giants 7 0 7 0 14
Bucs 3 21 3 3 30

Tampa Bay's D really played well supporting a slacking O. The Giants fell behind early so that took Tiki out of the game allowing him to only gain 30 yards on the ground. Kerry Collins threw 5 picks which helped the Bucs to a victory. The 2 Great former Super Bowl QBs in this game put up sub 40 QB ratings in this slugfest combining for 8 ints and only 3 TDs. Tampas big men gave the only semblance of offense with Mike Alstott putting in 2 TDs one Running and one Receiving while Ken Dillger got stopped short of the goal line on 2 long plays racking up 151 yards on 6 receptions wil 79 YAC! The Giants turnovers and penalties were costly letting the Bucs win in week 1.

The Horse Trailer Player of the Game was Derrick Brooks

LL Panthers 56 - Djaparz 7

Not much to say really.

My qb was picked twice, his qb was picked once. He fumbled twice. He just needs to recognize defensive fronts and he will be ok. DJaparz played pretty good on D...his O, like I said, he just needs to recognize d fronts.

hey DJ,

Look, at some point everyone here has been schooled. I have played vinny three times and he has schooled me three times. Before Boozer76 won any games...he got schooled regularly..then he started schooling people. It just takes practice and you will begin to recognize different things and see the game clearly. I have no doubt that you will do a heck of a lot better...sooner rather than later.

I have sent MAWARU a PM concerning the opening in our league. If he fails to contact me by Wednesday then It will fall upon House of Steell (although he said he didnt want to play unless its emergency).

Does anyone know of someone who wants to play and is dependable?

I got pummelled 38-28. It was 28-0 as TB just took me behind the woodshed in the first half...he scored a TD on an INT and a fumble recovery. it was just brutal...
