Vegas Casino Boots Singer Linda Ronstadt

LAS VEGAS - Singer Linda Ronstadt (news) not only got booed, she got the boot after lauding filmmaker Michael Moore and his new movie "Fahrenheit 9/11" during a performance at the Aladdin hotel-casino.

Before singing "Desperado" for an encore Saturday night, the 58-year-old rocker called Moore a "great American patriot" and "someone who is spreading the truth." She also encouraged everybody to see the documentary about President Bush (news - web sites).

Ronstadt's comments drew loud boos and some of the 4,500 people in attendance stormed out of the theater. People also tore down concert posters and tossed cocktails into the air.

"It was a very ugly scene," Aladdin President Bill Timmins told The Associated Press. "She praised him and all of a sudden all bedlam broke loose."

Timmins, who is British and was watching the show, decided Ronstadt had to go — for good. Timmins said he didn't allow Ronstadt back in her luxury suite and she was escorted off the property.

Ronstadt's antics "spoiled a wonderful evening for our guests and we had to do something about it," Timmins said.

Timmins said it was the first time he sent a performer packing.

"As long as I'm here, she's not going to play," Timmins said.

Ronstadt had been booked to play the Aladdin for only one show.

Calls to Ronstadt's manager were not immediately returned.

In an interview with the Las Vegas Review-Journal before the show, Ronstadt said "I keep hoping that if I'm annoying enough to them, they won't hire me back."

Looks like she got her wish.

Ronstadt and Mikey will be jointly headlining at Peace Rally at 4AM Saturday night at the White Castle on Fordham Road in the Bronx. Just don't get between either of'em and a sack of sliders.

Yankee stadium these days is as soft as cotton, and it leaves it up to my friends and I to be the drunken idiots.

you call it shame i call it pride

las vegas is a cruel and ignorant backwater compared to new york city.

people in new york don't get hoodwinked so easily

as far as acting a drunken ass at Yankee stadium goes, i wouldn't be too proud of that...

im the guy at the game saying "hey jackass - sit your drunk ass down and shut the f--k up"

people paid good money to watch the game not to watch you

making fun of Boston i would have no problem with - there's a time and a place for heckling and anyone who has sat next to me at a JETS game will testiment to the fact im not exactly a monk

as for me being the cool guy - whatever - people can get on my nerves

all im saying is yankee stadium is too small of a space to have to fight someone 3 rows ahead for a sight line - the place is built like a prison

Certainly a matter of opinion.

I would argue that New Yorkers are easily hoodwinked, hence electing Clinton to be senator when she clearly has no long term interest in helping NY and no credentials to boot. But RFK used NY the same way so it's an old story.

Actually at a recent Mets game it was fireworks night. They were showing all the Presidents while playing patriotic music. When they got to dubya they thought it would be witty to change the music to 'nsync's bye bye bye. The croud was booing like crazy. It seems like some New Yorkers are fed up with the Libs trying to impose their opinions everywhere it doesn't belong.

There are still plenty of sheeple left in NY. It's nice to see at least a few at the Mets game with some backbone.

Some bonehead yankees fans booing the VP has nothing to do with some moron in Mets management trying to editorialize fireworks night by playing a stupid song and showing a picture of the President. The people are fed up with the left wing wackos trying to impose their will on the unwilling majority. If they showed a picture of kerry at a waffle house they should have booed as well. Its an inappropriate forum to make political statements.

I wonder if the neo cons also think its inappropriate for other performers like say maybe Charlie Daniels to express his support for Bush?

I think good 'ol Charlie has every right in the world to have and to express his political opinions during his shows. If you go to his show you should know what to expect.

To bad the neo cons here are too hypocritical to feel the same way.
