From a law enforcement bulletin-

Heavily Armed Suspects- On July 14, 2004, Iowa State Patrol troopers stopped a 1997 Ford Explorer bearing a California license plate traveling eastbound on Interstate 80 near Council Bluffs, Iowa . The vehicle contained two occupants who were believed to be traveling from Santee, California , to Cleveland, Ohio. One subject was a black male who claimed to be Muslim. The other subject was a white, possibly Middle Eastern, female, with a decidedly Irish surname. The suspects had multiple identification documents and neither suspect cooperated with officials. The troopers found the following items in the vehicle: three bulletproof vests, one prepared to look like a woman’s coat; night scope - night vision goggles with head strap; flight training manuals in Arabic and English and a full flight simulator machine; tripod mounted Bushnell telescope with camera mount for long distance photo shots; Arabic tapes (NFI); one Ruger 9mm with approximately 1000 rounds of ammunition; Co2 cylinders; numerous Arabic manuals and books; and maps.

While the suspects were in the patrol vehicle during the trooper’s search of their vehicle, the in-car camera recorded them referencing shooting the trooper and leaving the scene on three occasions. The FBI Joint Terrorism Task Force and the Iowa Department of Public Safety are investigating this incident. As a reminder, any enforcement contact can lead to the discovery of items that can be used to facilitate a terrorist attack. Another interesting note, the individuals involved in the traffic stop would not be considered "the traditional Middle Eastern terrorist."

On a happier note, the infamous flight 327 had the Syrian Wayne Newton and his posse on board, who may have acted strangely but were only dangerous to your ears-

And then I noticed something that was truly terrifying, something linking Nour Mehana to a figure of such repulsive evil that I felt a rush of prickly fear not unlike Jacobsen's: Just one week later, the same company that arranged Mehana's performance, also booked Carrot Top!

To hell with Sandy Berger-they should investigate why any casino would hire Carrot Top to do anything else than wash dishes with that brillo head. That's really what liquored-up bachelor party guys waht to see after droppinga few Cs at the craps table-Carrot Top and the the Syrian Wayne Newton! The Croatian Frank Sinatra and the Ugandan Sammy Davis must be all tied up. These people must be skimming the haul just to pay the electric bill.

Im as anti-p.c. as just about anyone, and have no problem with folks of Middle Eastern descent being "profiled" and checked out, but lets remember that the traditional profile isn't the only thing we should be looking for...there's blacks and whites who have converted and want to blow us to kingdom come as well.

Those suspects were clearly prepared for some sort of armed conflict. Flight manuals....not good at all. They are searching for vulnerable airports to fly from for 9/11 part 2. The law enforcement bulletin...is that something we can subscribe to or is it for cops only?
