League sources say Erick Dampier has spurned the Grizzlies and will sign with Atlanta. The Knicks will make a last-ditch effort to lure Dampier today.
-- NY Daily News I don't think the Knicks have much of a chance, if they did I think he would have signed already. Oh well. |

I knew it was gonna happen, Damp wants his $$$ that playing for 1 year MLE was just for the media.
Oh well, I aint terribly upset about not getting a 30 year old center for a 5-6 year contract, which is what would have been needed for a sign and trade. |

Atlanta traded for Drobnyic (sp??) from the Bobcats. The dude makes some $2.6 million this year. So the HAwk offer to Dampier just went down by the same amount, as their cap room suddenly decreased.
Still a chance, albeit a very tiny one. |

Yeah now they can only offer him $6.8 million annualy, which is only $1.9 million more than the Knicks can.
But they can offer him a 4 yr deal, and he'd still make more than $8 million more there. Still a chance though |
