If the Republican White House and Congress would give our honorable servicemen and women their full benefits and a good salary. I don't know a lot about Carter's administration, but I do believed he tried to get the Soviets to better the human rights of their people. And he also wouldn't allow the Americans to participate in the olympics in Moscow.

And if you think his 4-year presidency was a domestic and international disaster, wake up and smell the coffee. We have 8 years of the resident imbecile to do all kinds of untold damage.

Carter was the worst, period, excamation point as illustrated above. 2) Reagan did not do all things terrifically, but he was a pragmatist. Dont know your age, but if you had been of age you would know that the most serious threat of that era were the Soviets-armed to the teeth & continuously fomenting violence through their proxies (most notably the Arabs) everywhere. For example, when the Marines were killed by the Arabs in Beirut in 1983, that was an all-out act of war. We did not respond to that incident in order to prevent another full scale Mideast war-so much for Arafats thanks for saving his perverted ass the previous year.

Regarding the deficits, they helped accomplished 3 things-taking our economy out of the toilet, replenishing our military, and spending the Russians into oblivion. To those of us born before 1980 the fall of the USSR was almost inconceivable -but
Reagan made it happen and he well deserves his exalted place in history.

Remember it was a Democratic Congress who was willing to oblige the spending part, as they had done so for years, but had to have their arms twisted to accept the tax cut. And in turn, some of the tax deductions we had previously enjoyed (like deducting work mileage, or sales tax) went by the wayside too.

Personal finances are a separate event from the govt deficits. With carter we had high interest rates & high deficits-really bad.

Otherwise: 18% Interest. 18% Inflation. Allowing 125,000 people -- including criminals and mental patients -- to flee to U.S. shores by boat from Cuba. Gas Lines. Allowing the Shah of Iran to be deposed, for a far worse evil in Khomeini we will have to eradicate sooner or later. Have you already forgot the record deficits he created and now Bush is doing. Consider your personal finances, would you rather have a low debt at a high interest or a high debt at a low interest?

[/b][/quote] Carter was the worst, period, excamation point as illustrated above. 2) Reagan did not do all things terrifically, but he was a pragmatist. Dont know your age, but if you had been of age you would know that the most serious threat of that era were the Soviets-armed to the teeth & continuously fomenting violence through their proxies (most notably the Arabs) everywhere. For example, when the Marines were killed by the Arabs in Beirut in 1983, that was an all-out act of war. We did not respond to that incident in order to prevent another full scale Mideast war-so much for Arafats thanks for saving his perverted ass the previous year. Regarding the deficits, they helped accomplished 3 things-taking our economy out of the toilet, replenishing our military, and spending the Russians into oblivion. To those of us born before 1980 the fall of the USSR was almost inconceivable -but Reagan made it happen and he well deserves his exalted place in history. Remember it was a Democratic Congress who was willing to oblige the spending part, as they had done so for years, but had to have their arms twisted to accept the tax cut. And in turn, some of the tax deductions we had previously enjoyed (like deducting work mileage, or sales tax) went by the wayside too. Personal finances are a separate event from the govt deficits. With carter we had high interest rates & high deficits-really bad.
