    Defense

On our first possession we punt and down it at the 4. Denver easily marches 96 yards. The game just started. They can't complain they were tired. Of course if you can never stop the other team and get off the field you will get tired. Is so hard for an offense to get a rhythm when they spend a vast amt. of time on the sidelines between possessions.

What happened to our defense? The very first drive of the season in KC has set the tone for the whole year and we have been playing catchup since.

    Is just sooooooo depressing.

this is the same old story. the defense stinks, the coaches stink, the players stink, the owner stinks.

You can't really blame the defense for giving up 27 pts when they're stuck playing for 42 minutes and the offense scores 3 points in the last game. Plus, a lot of the points against us are a result of our ridiculous number of turnovers.

not true. the defense didnt do squat to start the game, as they rammed it down our throats. the time of possession and # of plays by denver was rediculous!!

You really don't get the point. Were they tired in the first quarter when they gave up those long drives? They played much better in the second half when they should have been more tired. Maybe they are stuck playing so many minutes because they can't stop the other team. Turnover actually shorten the field for them. When we gave the defense good field position they gave up long drives that consumed more time.

Funny how the majority of posters on this board thought the Jets defense was a top 5, elite defense.

Guess what, the Jets defense sucks.

Nice 3 and outs  today.

You youself thought we would be in the top 3.

Vilma himself came out after the game and said the defense was flat, not ready. They thought Denver would run and they passed. They thought denver would pass, and they ran.

Funny, Baltimore's defense - which has better players - has also been solved by the league. I wonder if the problem on defense is related to this. The defensive scheme has been solved?

I've been saying since the first few weeks of the season that the defense has been disappointing. You can't just blame it on the offense not sustaining drives, as QJF's example blows that theory away. And it was pretty awful to see the Broncos run the ball on 10 straight plays late in the game.

}Please note the post above you. They let the Broncos go 96 yards on their FIRST possession of the game. This D always takes at least the 1st quarter to realize the game has already started. What the hell is it going to take to motivate these losers from the Q1 kickoff?

Except for a couple big plays, where has Abe been all year? Both our O & D lines are too small to compete with the big boys. We used to have speed on the o-line. That's faded away.

    Secondary

Just a thought. Has our secondary ever recovered from losing Aaron Glenn, Marcus Coleman and Victor Green? Herm was a secondary coach and that was supposed to be his strong suit but have we had a secondary under Herm as good as when we had those guys?

Supposedly those guys didn't fit into his cover 2 scheme but getting guys to fit that scheme has not worked out.

Unfortunately... Glenn, Coleman and Green all had to go as cap casualties... but your point is true... no one the jets bring in as a f/a ever works out for them... its like a revolving door!!! Beasley, Abraham, Tongue, even Barrett I have to say have all been busts.

Invisible. He is mailing it in and has been for a awhile. If you are at the game this week, take a look at him for awhile.

Why did those guys have to go as cap casualties and we kept others on with bigger cap hits who were less productive? I think it was more their style of play over their salaries. They were a young, fast and athletic cornerback tandem which would have made the world of difference for our defense.

Another example of the coaches trying to get their guy was Cowert coming in and letting Farrior go. I know we made an offer for Farrior but it wasn't what it should have been cause Cottrell wanted his man. Bradway has admitted that Farrior's defection was the one that hurt the most.

I think the scheme stinks, and that coupled with the inability of the defense to stop the run makes for a porous defense.

The Jets should be playing an attacking scheme, mixing blitzes with tight bump-and-run, man-to-man coverage. Whether it is a case of Donnie Henderson conforming to Herm's scheme or Donnie playing his own scheme, we are dying a slow death each and every Sunday.

I agree, and who would you rather have playing that aggressive man to man scheme Glenn and Coleman or Aaron Beasley, Donnie Abraham, Barrett, today's Ty Law or whoever else we tried to replace them with?
