OT: My Toronto Blue Jays making a run at the AL East

well we know Boston has regressed, so the Yanks are definitely the front runners

but my boys are making a case

today we traded hudson and batista for Troy Glaus....add that to the acquisitions of BJ Ryan, AJ Burnett and Lyle Overbay

    C - Zaun
    1B - Overbay
    2B - Hill
    SS - Adams
    3B - Glaus
    LF - Johnson
    CF - Wells
    RF - Rios
    DH - Hillenbrand/Koskie

ok, not close to the Yanks, but there are some solid hitters in that group

but here is where we can beat the yanks

    - Halladay
    - Burnett
    - Lilly
    - Chacin
    - Towers

its gonna be a good battle my friends, but watch out for the underdogs

I agree, Vince ... as of now I view the Jays {and not the Sox} as our primary competition in the ALE

I also agree with TampaT ... right now the Jays would be my pick for the WC, but they look good enough on paper to challenge for the division title as well

Burnett is unproven. Lilly is JAG and so is Towers but he has potential.

If Burnett can pitch like he should, teaming him with halladay and chacin would be a good 1-2-3 and better than the red sox team for sure.

as a jays fan i dont like this deal a whole lot. glaus is overrated and orlando hudson is the best defensive player in baseball. but i guess the deal wont be that bad since troy is good defensively and has power.

Forgeta bout it. Your nuts there's now way they win the division. The Yankees have improved while the Red Sox have dropped off a little but I believe they will still be good. The Blue Jays will finish 3rd in the division.

Don't count your chickens just yet

    Espn says there still talking

Fox sports says they've just reached an agreement and only speculates Glaus must have waived his no trade to Toronto clause

I don't doubt the Sox will make one last attempt at Glaus over the weekend.

thats true, he is solid defensively but his bat is such a liability
aaron hill is also a good defender and his hitting is superior

now we just need to get rid of hinske and maybe koskie

i dont see how a jays fan could not like this deal...hes the power bat we have needed since delgado

Blue Jays might get the wild card, but Yankees will win the division. Their D is better, their bullpen is way deeper, and their hitting is better with Damon in over Bernie and Giambi not hitting 120 for the first 2 months. Boston is going to have to do something, but they're in some trouble.

    RJ and Halliday are equal.

Burnett is definitely better than Moose, but lets see if Burnett can stay healthy and how he does in the AL. (Personally, if he stays healthy, I think he'll do very well. I like Burnett a lot).

I would take Wang over Lily.

Chacon and Chacin is a good battle. Chacon's peripherals scare me a bit, but I love that curveball. It'll be interesting to see how Chacin does in his sophmore year.

Pavano/Wright is most likely better than Towers. Towers has got some potential and I dislike Pavano, but we will see.

Also, the Yankee bullpen is better than the BJays and as you said, the Yankee lineup is much better.
