    OT David Wright

I love this guy he is my favorite Met. I wanted to hear your opinions on how long you think he will be a Met and how long of a contract will they sign him to. I hope he retires with us.

The Management can't mess his situation up they should do something similar to the Yankees and Jeter, give him like 10 year deal then keep extending it 3-4 years until he is done

David has quickly moved up my list of favorite players too, and I don't just mean Mets.

He is a special talent, and should be with the Mets for a long time.

That said, I do not think we will be signing him to a long term deal anytime soon. That is because this is a FOOTBALL forum. David Wright is a third baseman, and that won't really help the Jets at all.

OK, I am just kidding. Think about it, even Albert Pujols had to wait a few years to get his big payday. So I don't think the Mets are going to rush this. As far as I know he is not even arbitration eligible for two more years.

David Wright is going to get an enormous long term contract from the Mets someday, but that day is a couple years away.

I think the Mets would handle this the way the Cards handled Pujols. They wait until the year before which is arbitration eligible (2 years I believe from now for Wright) and then ink him to a long term deal. If he maxes his potential and reaches a Mike Schmidt level, hes not going anywhere. Also, he cant hit the open market till 2010.

Since we think that Wright will be eligible in two years, does anybody know when Jose Reyes is eligible?

I just realized that the Mets are playing Puerto Rico right now on ESPN.

David Wright just got an RBI. He drove in Lastings Millidge(sp). I am looking forward to seeing him with the big the Mets.

Hopefully Wright will have a full long career as a Met.

Dont worry about it. As far as I know Beltran is the Met on that team.

And you are right... it is tough to pick against the Braves with their history.

    Yep, resting today.

Jose Valentin and ex-Mets Dicky Gonzalez and Jose Santiago are on the PR roster.

I think your right...but I have not heard his name today.

They just said that the mets are playing with a split squad and with out the guys they lost to the WBC. So this is going to get ugly real quick.

david wright is most definitely my favorite met now. piazza used to be but, sadly, he's gone. jose reyes is probably my second favorite current met. although i do really like cliff floyd also.

I am a devoted YANKEES fan, have NO use for the Mets, but I WILL watch David Wright. The guy is something else.

Agreed. I'm a Yankee fan, but Wright is a nice player. Reyes, however is not going to be half of the player you want him to be. He's too undisciplined and erratic.
