Typical stupid Yankee move. Yanks didn't need more offense.

Won't make a difference with the Yanks - if their ancient pitching doesn't out-pitch their opponents in the postseason, it'll be the same song and dance we've watched for the last several years.

The best thing that could ever happen to the Yanks would be for Steinbrenner to get in trouble and be forced away from the team again. That's when there were actual baseball people running the team - and they put together a dynasty. Ever since the Boss got his hands back on the team, it's been like putting together a fantasy team.

Looks good on paper, puts up a boatload of runs, and fails miserably when it's all on the line. If you'd rather have Sheffield than O'Neill, if you'd rather have Giambi than Tino, if you'd rather have Johnson than Petitte, then you are part of the problem. Numbers don't win championships - character does.

The Yanks traded all of their character for numbers.

And it couldn't have happened to a better bunch of guys...

    Character wins championships now?

And the Damon move was good. The guys a great leadoff hitter and will consistently get on base. It also allows Jeter to hit in the two hole.

Let me ask you something - when the Yanks were on their Championship run, how many 30 HR guys did they have?!?

Now that they have these 30 HR guys, how many rings have they won?

What do you think was the difference?

It's been pretty quiet for the past 5 years. Maybe you need a hearing aid.

If you are having trouble hearing show up at Shea in October, it will be plenty loud then

Sorry but potential is what could be done, Co Co in just two games has put it on the field just as Damon has, and as my esteemed colleague already pointed out, CO Co is younger, cheaper and has more long term value.

Character????? Even when he was with the Red Sox I wouldn't confuse Damon with the word character, this is a guy that completely abandoned his twin infant children and their mother for a a cheap dime store stripper. Damon has no class, or character and Yank fans will learn to cringe when they put a mic in his face.

could agree more with the character comment,

    Paul O
    Scott B
    Tino M
    Derek J
    Bernie W
    Boomer
    Cone

now these were yankees you could root for.

Yeah, I'm sure in 98 you were rooting for the Yankees to break the single season win mark.

What really bothers me are the idiots that think the yankees "buy" their championships. They didn't buy a damn one. They built up a great core when Steinbrenner was out of baseball, and they filled in with one or two key acquisitions. Their payroll didn't dwarf anybody during this run (even though it was the highest during a couple of the championships, there were 10 or more teams with payrolls in the same ballpark - and the Yankees were even behind the Baltimores of the world in 96 if I remember correctly.)

Now its lets bring in the flashiest free agent there is. It really fricken sucks, because the great Yankee dynasty of 96-00 will forever be tainted with the false idea that the Yankees purchased their championships. When in truth it was a great core, some great trades (people thought Cincy fleeced the Yankees when we got Paul O', and we got Scott B. when nobody wanted him, and we got Tino and Nelson for what eventually turned out to be a song and a dance).

The Yankees haven't bought fricken crap... their performance since 2002 is proof of this.

Don't get me wrong, I will always watch every inning of Yankee baseball there is, and will bleed pinstripes...
