Thread: Soriano/Reyes/A.Kearns for Pujols/Garciaparra/M.Holliday

    Soriano/Reyes/A.Kearns for Pujols/Garciaparra/M.Holliday

    I traded away

    Pujols
    Garciappara
    Matt Holliday

    for

    Soriano/Reyes/Asutin Kearns...

The guy would not give me Zambrano for Buerhle

Like I said I am 8/9/8 out of 10 in R/HR/RBI (10 = Best), and Third in Steals... So I did this mainly for the steals.

    Good Trade or Bad?

    That's putting it lightly.

Sorry, but that is an absolutely horrible trade. Only a Met fan would do that.

WAIT... THIS IS WHY I DID IT

    I know it sounds bad...

But these were some motivating factors here:

    1) Garciaparra has been hitting .230 With 15 Runs, 4 HR, and 11 RBIs, Over the last month (87 AB). But more than that he is in a 1/19 slump over the last week. Dont you think with his history and his age that he might be breaking down for the rest of year?

    2) Matt Holliday has been batting .231 over his last 91 At Bats with 13R 2HR and 6RBI... For this guy who was a surprise to begin with do you think he's gonna break out of a month long slump and come back? He's also been batting .174 over the last week.

I know Reyes has been Slumping a little, But he's on a very good team and I expect him to hopefully pull out of it and start posting numbers like he was the first half of the season... at the same time Soriano is as hot as ever, he's hitting .330 over the last month and .430 over the last week... and he's probably gonna get traded to a team where he has a chance to post even more RBI's and Runs...

I still have a few days to cancel the trade if I dont feel it, but I did considering the stuff above... Let me know whether you still think i should cancel it or keep it.

PS for those who think Soriano is not at all near Pujols, his numbers are actually kind of close...
    HR RBI R SB
    SORIANO .287 31 62 75 25
    PUJOLS .327 33 86 71 3

You got robbed...Pujols is the best player in fantasy, arguably.

Sorry, I take back "horrible" and will just call this a bad trade. I misread Holliday's name. I thought it was Roy Halladay.

Still, the stolen bases you're gaining is not going to make up for the RBIs and HRs you're losing with Pujols. Soriano is going to tap out on the HRs well before Pujols.

    Not after this trade.

It isn't a bad trade by any means.

People are really underestimating Reyes' fantasy value

Yeah, "fantasy" is the key word.

But anyway, if you can get Reyes without giving up Pujols, then that would work.

Soriano is almost as dominant a fantasy player as Pujols.

GUYS MAKE SURE U UNDERSTAND ONE THING>>>

The league i'm playing on is "rotisserie"

This means that Each team is ranked from 1 - 10 and each rank = 1 point.

So lets say you are leading your league with 120 steals... if you get another 500 steals you will still not be gaining any points because you are already ranked highest.

    I'm basically 8th in HR/RBI/R, and 3rd in steals.

Actually he is MORE Dominant so far this year.

The fantasy rank system has him first this year and Pujols is second... based on their numbers so far.

Of course Pujols was injured and lost production there, and who knows if Soriano will keep it up, but that is how it is so far.

    BTW...

    I DIDNT EVEN KNOW THIS:

    BELTRAN IS THIRD

    Bad trade

Soriano is known as a first-half hitter

Pujols is the best player in baseball

And although Jose Reyes is a great fantasy player, you got fleeced

Pujols is the best player in baseball but in terms of fantasy what is he giving me that Soriano isnt?

    AVG: Pujols (By a lot)
    RBI: Pujols
    HR : (same)
    SB: Soriano (By a lot)
    R: Soriano

soriano and reyes are both top 7 fantasy players. holliday and nomar are definetly fading fast. don't listen to everyone here, you dealt from a position of strength for a need, good trade.

personally i would have waited to see where soriano ends up because if he ends up in houston his hr total might come down but his avg should go up

if he lands in yankeeland or white sox then his average may stay the same but his steals would go down

so it all depend son where soriano lands
