    ***The UN-Official Mets-Cardinals Game Thread***

I know it's early, but I was wondering what people's opinion on this was?

MLB.com has the match-up slated for Glavine vs. Weaver, but with the extra days rest, do you think Carpenter will be bumped up for this game? Both teams need this game bad, so it would make sense to pitch their best.

    Thougths.

    (move if you must)

Weaver will pitch and he won't make it out of the 4th inning. Mets need this game badly with Maine and ? pitching in games 6 + 7.

We got this game. I totally feel confident with Maine on the hill. Lets go Mets!

Lets hope so. And hopefully it won't go 7, I don't wanna deal with the stress of Oliver Perez, Steve Trachsel, or I heard on WFAN possibly Darren Oliver.

Weaver pitches and wins. I don't know why you said he won't make it out of the 4th. He had one bad pitch in game 1, ONE...he has allowed 2 earned runs in like 16 innings. Glavine pitched out of his a**hole last week, he is gonna get pummeled tonight

I say Weaver is gonna get shelled because his ERA @ Busch stadium this year is over 6.

Glavine on the other hand has a career under 3 ERA in the playoffs on full rest.

Anything can happen but you have to like the Mets chances in this one.

Glavine wins tonight, Weaver starts for the Cards and I dont see them moving Carpenter up on short rest.

Basically this is as close to a must win as they get. Win tonight, then win one of 2 at home. And hopefully we never see Trax pitch again.

    Lets see...

    Pujolus or Beltran/Delgado/Wright

    1 vs 3... I like our odds.

    What exactly does that mean?

It means rooting for the Mets to not make the series is a fool's game. Go scout the Tigers and tell us how scared we should be, meanwhile we'll be rooting home the Mets to win it in 6!

JF13 is actually a Card fan.

Jets & Cards fan? Well, at least he's in the right place. My apologies for thinking him a Yankee fan (like FloridaJet), but I still see Mets in 6.

I think it would be a mistake to move Carpenter up on 3 days rest, even if the Mets win tonight, the series is not over.
By giving Carpenter his normal rest the Cardinals achieve a pitching advantage for game 6.
