    Current Free Agents ?

    Hey guys,

Is there a FULL list of current free agents out there somewhere. I keep seeing ESPN talk about the most popular ones like Soriano (soon to be Met ), Zito, Lee, Garciaparra, Schmidt, etc.

Any idea where I could view a full list ?? Thanks in advance.

Btw for Mets fans... Floyd, Bradford, Mota, and R. Hernandez are free agents.
We need to resign Bradford and Mota !!

Yankee fans... anyone on the Yankees filing/filed for free agency ??

try mlb4u.com it has lists for after 2007 after 2008 and 2009 also. Also, Soriano wants Beltran money which I doubt he will get though.

As a Mets fan, I really don't want Soriano... I want Zito AND Matasuzaka

  6. #6
I want Soriano. The all-around offensive talent basically would get us a combination of Reyes' baserunning and Beltran's power added to the lineup.

I'd love it if we were to somehow pull off a deal of something like:

    - Trade Bannister, Shawn Green (we eat his entire contract), Alay Soler and Victor Zambrano for Manny Ramirez since the Sox want pitching and want to get rid of Manny.

    - Resign Cliff Floyd and Endy Chavez to platoon left to play Manny in right

    - Sign Alfonso Soriano to play 2B

    - Trade Milledge and Heilman for Dontrelle Willis

    - Resign Glavine, Mota, Bradford, Darren Oliver, El Duque, Woodward, Castro, Valentin

    Pitchers

    Starters
    Dontrelle Willis
    Tom Glavine
    Pedro Martinez
    Oliver Perez
    John Maine
    Orlando Hernandez

Spot starters to promote from minors
    Mike Pelfrey
    Phillip Humber

    Bullpen
    Darren Oliver
    Chad Bradford
    Pedro Feliciano
    Royce Ring
    Duaner Sanchez
    Guerllimo Mota
    Billy Wagner

    Lineup

    1. Jose Reyes (SS)
    2. Alfonso Soriano (2B)
    3. Manny Ramirez (RF)
    4. Carlos Beltran (CF)
    5. Carlos Delgado (1B)
    6. David Wright (2B)
    7. Paul Lo Duca (C)
    8. Cliff Floyd (LF)
    9. Pitcher

    Bench
    Endy Chavez
    Jose Valentin
    Anderson Hernandez
    Chris Woodward
    Julio Franco
    Ramon Castro

    yeah yeah pipe dream

I really don't want Soriano... he's going to get paid way more than he's worth and I think he was just turning it on for the contract year.

I think Willis will cost more than that (as will Manny) and Zito > Willis anyway

Also, Pedro should not be part of our plans. If we get anything out of him next year, we're lucky

Thanks for all the help guys. Thanks especially to 49ersJetsfan for the list.

    On Soriano:

I'd love to have a another power hitting right hander in the lineup. I think Valentine was great for most of the year, but I wouldn't count on him contributing this way next year. Soriano is a homerun threat and a base stealing threat, and most importantly for the Mets: a RIGHT handed hitter to give the lineup it's lost balance. For people that think he'll be asking too much, I believe (please correct me if I'm wrong) he was asking for $12 million per year before this year... that number probably goes up to $15 million per year now. It's a lot, but I think we can and should spend the money on him.

    On Zito and Matasuzaka:

I don't think there is anyway we get both. The Yankees will definitely be getting one (Matasuzaka IMO). I think we get Zito and I'd really like to pick up Schmidt.

    On Willis:

I'd like to pick up Willis if it were possible, but I think it's highly unlikely that the Marlins (a division rival) trade him to us. We have a better shot of picking him up when he's a free agent. However, if there was a trade... I wouldn't trade Milledge and Heilman for Willis. I want to keep Heilman. Plus I don't think Milledge and Heilman are enough to get Willis.

As for the Mets, I've bolded the guys I think we should definitely resign and underlined guys I think we should consider resigning.

In my opinion you'd waste Soriano in the 2nd spot batting behind Reyes. If we get Soriano I think he hits cleanup between Beltran and Delgado.
My dream lineup for the 2007 season...

    Reyes SS
    Durham 2b
    Beltran CF
    Soriano LF
    Delgado 1B
    Wright 3B
    Green RF
    LoDuca C

    or

    Reyes
    Durham
    Beltran
    Wright
    Delgado
    Carlos Lee
    Green
    LoDuca
