if he comes back i doubt it will be for anything more than one or two years imo this makes perfect sense he can still come back and pitch effectively he may not be lights out but he sure as hell is a better option than wright or pavano........and he can mentor our young prospect stud's and show them how to be a Yankee.......A truly class move I say by Cashman.......

well wright is gone...pavano is still a wildcard...i for one think pettite could be solid for another few years...it will remain to be seen though.

To be fair, although he claims that he felt the Yankees didn't really want him back, the Yankees did offer him a 3/$39M deal, far more lucrative than the 3/$31.5M deal he accepted with the Astros. Rumor has it that his wife made sure he didn't re-sign with the Yankees because she found out he was cheating with a woman in NYC.

And, lets also not forget who we drafted with the pick we got for losing Pettitte... My guess is in the end, we will be happy we made the trade of losing 3 years of Pettitte for many, many years of Philip Hughes.

For a 1 year contract, I'm not very concerned with his age. He's still a frontline starter IMO.
