I know why the army boasting thread was created, but that doesn't make it any less hypocritical or ironic, does it?

I know why you created this thread, but that doesn't make it any less stupid that you guys argue about whos crappy corporate controlled MSM bull**** is more popular with the lemmings out there in tv land, does it?

There is a point to be made about this.

We are talking about complete mass media here, all of which are basically run by corporate power.

Back when media was freely owned, there were something like 28,000 different tv, radio, newspaper options across the country (back in the50's I believe)

Since then, over 50 percent of all media outlets are now controlled by 23 companies. Now, if there was some evidence out there in the scientific world that was finding, lets say that certain hormone injections in cows has been banned in many places in the world because of serious side effects, but the "media" is owned by corporations that have strong investment in the dairy industry, do you honestly think that will make the six o'clock news?

We have become blind to what the media was meant for. A great preservation tool for democracy, and a powerful media to transfer educational information to a country so they can be well informed on topics to make educated decisions.
What do we see now? How many fender benders and 10 car pile-ups happened on the interstates. New diet fads, scientific discoveries about trans fats, should we allow peanut butter in our schools.......

Olbermann - Bush's legacy: The president who cried wolf

Only this president, only in this time, only with this dangerous, even messianic certitude, could answer a country demanding an exit strategy from Iraq, by offering an entrance strategy for Iran.

Only this president could look out over a vista of 3,008 dead and 22,834 wounded in Iraq, and finally say, “Where mistakes have been made, the responsibility rests with me” — only to follow that by proposing to repeat the identical mistake ... in Iran.

Only this president could extol the “thoughtful recommendations of the Iraq Study Group,” and then take its most far-sighted recommendation — “engage Syria and Iran” — and transform it into “threaten Syria and Iran” — when al-Qaida would like nothing better than for us to threaten Syria, and when Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad would like nothing better than to be threatened by us.

This is diplomacy by skimming; it is internationalism by drawing pictures of Superman in the margins of the text books; it is a presidency of Cliff Notes.

you shouldn't hang out with a bunch of dimwits then....

since when do news broadcasts rely on ratings to determine their slant?

the NY Times subscriptions are going to hell in a handbag faster than an anvil dropped from the 10th floor....they continue with their anti-American leftist drivel....

Press Freedom: US Drops to 53rd Place

http://www.thirdworldtraveler.com/Print_Media/PressFreedom_US_53rd.html

33 US state courts recognize some form of Shield Law, but the Federal Courts have consistently refused to recognize the media's right not to reveal its sources. In recent years the US government has shown renewed zeal, threatening journalists whose investigations have no connection at all with terrorism.

again with the website some clown made in his basement....

"THIRD WORLD TRAVELER puts up articles and book excerpts
that offer an alternative view to the U.S. mainstream media
about the state of American democracy, media, and foreign policy,
and about the impact of the actions
of the United States government, transnational corporations, international financial institutions, and the corporate media,
on democracy, social and economic justice, human rights, and war and peace,
in the Third World."

aka- we'll do all we can to rip America....highlighted by the following stories...

"Press Freedom: US Drops to 53rd Place
How Much Does a Gallon of Gas Really Cost?
US Has the Most Prisoners in the World
American Prison Camps Are on the Way
Top 10 Signs of the Impending U.S. Police State
Estimated Number of Nuclear Warheads
Unanswered Questions of 9/11
The GOP's $3 Billion Propaganda Organ [Sun Myung Moon's Washington Times]
The Assault on Democracy - Military Commissions Act 2006
Ike Was Right [Military-Industrial Complex]
Target Iran - Seymour Hersh interviews Scott Ritter
Do America and Israel want the Middle East engulfed by civil war?
What We Leave Behind - Cluster Bomb Casualties - Kosovo to Lebanon
Washington Seeks Stronger Ties with Latin American Militaries
Misery in the Name of Democracy: The US Works Elections in Iraq, Venezuela, Bolivia, and Haiti"

yep- some real cutting edge, unbiased journalism there...no wonder you can't get it through your head how liberally biased the news in America is- it is obviously not titled enough to the extreme left for your extremist views...
