OT: New Yankee Stadium Construction Progress

I found this photo album of the progress of the new Yankee Stadium being built. It's pretty sweet.

Looks like they are well into the construction of the grandstand.

I love how both stadium's are going to have a very "old school" look on the outside.

I agree... I LOVE the throwback to Ebbet's Field for the Mets' new place

Damn, that Yankee Stadium looks like a flying saucer landed in the middle of some enclosed fort. The Mets Stadium looks 1,000% classier. And I am a fan of neither team.

Of course that stadium looks bad: The picture is during mid-construction.

Mid construction? More like the end of construction.

Do you think green grass and a paved parking lot is going help this thing?

We can't call it "The House That Ruth Built" any longer.

"The open-house hosted by Jeter and Rivera" just doesn't have the same ring to it.

Don't you think a franchise like the Yankees should play in a world class stadium? If the Brewers, Pirates, and Reds are able to play in beautiful ball parks shouldn't THE YANKEES!?

It's still the house that ruth built, because it's the house that was built by the house that ruth built, which never would have been built if there was never a house that ruth built, so technically it's still the house that ruth built

That's a separate issue. I completely agree that the best franchise in the history of sports should have a modern stadium. However, it's now the house across the street from the house that Ruth built.

    1) the reason for the "saucer" look which someone said is because both staidums are going to have facades which are reminiscient of their respective older stadiums, with an open promenade in between the facade and the actual field/seats

    2) glendale stadium is a ridiculous stadium, state of the art. sean ryan, sorry bro you're kinda wrong. that pic is NOT almost done, if you've watched any sports lately (cards games, fiesta bowl, bcs champ, etc) you would know that it looks a lot better now that it's finished and the land around it is finalized and developed. so in essence, yes, grass and parking lots do wonders for "that thing", at least when you're judging it from an aerial view (duh).

    3) check out the plans for the new cowboy's stadium. ridiculous. 60 yd long suspended scoreboard over the field. i'm too lazy to find a pic tho.

You can't tell me they were not pretty much done with the construction of the the actual building in that photo. (Obviously don't know about the inside) Of course the landscape will make it look better... but I was referring to that actual building.
