David Wright to bat 2nd in reg season

willie sucks. Loduke was perfect in the 2 hole. Alou and green suck, we are going to hover around .500 for awhile

You guys are aware that Wrights career obp is around 380, as compared to 350 for loduca. He also will gets about 60 more at bats and that is a great thing considering he may be our best "pure" hitter.

Ideally i would want Wright batting 3rd, but im all for him in the 2 spot.

Doesn't really bother me much. My major beef with Paul Lo Duca in the 2 slot was because you can pencil him in to miss 30-40 games a year due to his age and half the time we were stuck with some nobody like Anderson Hernandez or Chris Woodward hitting in the Second Slot then.

I figure Wright will actually play pretty close to everyday and he will get close to 50 more at bats this season hitting in the 2 slot then he would in the 5 slot. Not to mention he's a good enough contact hitter that he can do alot of the same things Lo Duca did.

Plus, he's bound to get better pitches to hit with Beltran right behind him.

I wanted Wright on my fantasy teams.
But usually those are Met-free environments.

this is a good thing guys. and besides i tried reading that "baseball between the numbers" book. well i only made it two chapters, but i did read the one on batting order, and they came to the conclusion that basically batting oreder doesn't even really matter, and certainly doesnt matter as to the extent it is debated about.

Yeah, he can hone his bunting skills.

Probably something like that. I know it goes against Willie's Lefty/Righty balance, but I'd like to see Lo Duca before green though as Lo Duca is more of a singles hitter and with a pitcher almost right behind him he's going to get stranded on base alot. Whereas with Green and Valentin behind him we at least stand a chance of getting him home more often.

o come on. you know hes not going to do much bunting. Wright is a great fit in this spot, ever notice how he goes the other way so frequently. perfect for hit and run, and advancing runners.

    jes bein a s.a.

Yeah, with Reyes leading off and stealing second, then Wright putting the ball in play, it should lead to some good things.

Other then Valentine... the Mets have a solid line up.

Match up well with the AL's power houses (Yankees, Red Soxs, Tigers.. ect)

Also.. Wright will do well in the 2nd slot... he has a .375 career OBP.. that's pretty good. It's not Jeter, Abreu, Giambi.. but its solid.
