Ann Coulter Was Right... John Edwards Is A Butt Pirate
JOHN'S $400 TRIM
    DONORS PAY FOR 'DO'S
    By IAN BISHOP

MANE MAN: Ex-Sen. John Edwards still looks perfectly coifed about a month after his $400 haircut.

April 17, 2007 -- WASHINGTON - Democratic White House hopeful John Edwards insists on first-class pampering - enjoying $400 haircuts on the road and plunking down nearly $500 for swank spa treatments, according to campaign records.

Edwards, who touts himself as the poor man's champion and even launched his bid from New Orleans' hurricane-devastated Lower Ninth Ward, tucked the vanity treatments into his 5,236-page first-quarter Federal Election Commission filing under "consulting" expenses.

Records show he doled out $400 of his contributors' money to Beverly Hills mane maestros at Torrenueva Hair Designs in February and another $400 to Torrenueva in early March.

Joe Torrenueva is a stylist to the stars at his Wilshire Boulevard salon, and has sculpted the scalps of actors in films such as "Cadence," "Stand-Ins" and the Charles Bronson classic "Hard Times."

Further fueling his critics who have painted him as a pretty boy and "Breck Girl," Edwards also had his skin smoothed from stylists from the Pink Sapphire salon in Manchester, N.H., for $225.

Pink Sapphire, which is geared toward women, bills itself as a "unique boutique for the mind, body and face," and its mission statement is to "provide an avenue into the intriguing world of makeup."

In March, Edwards also spent $250 of his donors' money for the talented technicians at the Designworks Salon in Dubuque, Iowa - where a full-day spa package runs $210 - to clip his coif and slap on some makeup in advance of a TV session.

"We went to him," said a Designworks stylist who identified herself only as Melissa, indicating beauticians and hairstylists travel to Edwards' location to pretty him up for TV spots and campaign events.

Edwards spokesman Eric Schultz did not respond to requests for comment.

Pampering fit for a president is nothing new. Former President Bill Clinton got his locks lopped off by celebrity hairstylist Christophe.

Last summer, The Post broke the story that now-Democratic presidential front-runner Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton ponied up nearly $3,000 in campaign cash for her blond tresses to get some presidential pampering from acclaimed D.C. stylist Isabelle Goetz.

Goetz was also John Kerry's hairstylist of choice in the buildup to his failed 2004 White House bid.

Edwards' follicle flap is the latest uproar in his "two Americas" - the one he talks about on the campaign trail and the one in which he lives.

Edwards is taking heat for playing to the poor while putting the finishing touches on a $5.3 million compound tucked into 102 wooded acres outside Chapel Hill, N.C.
$400 for a haircut, what a joke. I spend $20 and I still feel like it leaves a hole in my pocket.

What does an expensive haircut have to do with his political views?

What does a $500 spa, $400 haircut and a multi-million dollar mansion have to do with his distaste over the financial gap in America? He's obviously not too broken up about it, after all.

The troublke, as it is with almost every Socialist-leaning Politician, is that the rhetoric and words he uses simply do not equate with the lifestyle he chooses to live.

As I have said before, the first time a Soclialist-Democrat comes out and lives Frugal-as-a-Monk and gives his money away (almost all of it), THEN He will have earned the respect (if not the agreement) of many for LIVING The lifestyle he proposes/supports.

A Man who complains endlessly about "two Americas" and how evil the rich one is, yet lives and acts directly within that "evil" America, is nothing more than a Hypocrite pandering to the poor masses for votes.

If you are John Edwards, you get a $20 Haricut, and then you tell everyone how much like them youy are. You don't a few grand worth of beauty work and them talk about the hard hard days of the poor. That haircut could have fed 50 poor American Children, after all.

Again, I don't see how any of that makes any difference in his political views and any subsequent political decisions he makes.

Under the current political system of this country, this request is simply unrealistic and impossible to attain. The only way to move up politically is to buy into the system itself even if you are fundamentally against it. A politician's personal lifestyle should have no bearing on his political decisions if he or she is true to word and views.

Personally, I fully support energy independence. Does that mean that I am going to stop driving my car knowing full well that the energy came from a foreign source? Nope, and this action does not make the slightest bit of difference if I ever had to make a political decision regarding energy independence. All that should matter is how I officially prioritize and handle a given situation politically.

this is no different than the enviromentally-friendly algore racking up $1200/month electric bills.....

btw: you've gotta question the sanity of anyone that would pay $100 for a haircut- never mind $400....

It DOES make a difference if you try to pass all sorts of laws preventing most people from using foreign energy and then use foreign energy yourself. It's like Al Gore wanting everyone else to cut their carbon use down, but using up a ton himself. His personal carbon use does not have any relationship to the merits of his arguement that carbon use is bad, however, his unwillingless to sacrifice does cast doubt on the sincerity of his convictions. If Al Gore really did believe everything he wants others to believe, he would not use up as much energy as he does, period. Anyone can flap their gums about anything, particularly in politics. What matters are your actions. So, forgive me if I doubt the sincerity of a guy who has a $30k electric bill when he tells me that unless we all curb our energy use, our species will go extinct. And people like Edwards complain about high costs for things like healthcare when he is a part of these rising costs, with is ridiculous lawsuits against ob-gyns who didn't perform c-sections, arguing (falsely) that c-sections can prevent cerebral palsy. Then, when he gets his money, he advocates raising taxes on 'the rich' even though he sets up things like s-corps to declare most of his income as a "dividend" and thus shield it from the higher taxes he proposes everyone else pay! And most "rich" people are hardly rich and cannot afford crafty tax attorneys to uncover all sorts of loopholes like he can. John Kerry literally and this is no joke, did not give a single penny to charity on at least 3 occasions in the 1990's. Not a penny! Yet, many liberals rationalize their lack of contributions by saying that they advocate raising taxes, even though many rich liberals find loopholes and don't pay nearly as much as their tax bracket implies. Wonder why Teresa Heinz didn't want to give out her complete tax records?? So, sorry, when limosine liberals talk the talk and don't walk the walk, it DOES make a difference, even if, in your mind, it shouldn't.

Liberals have no concept of how damaging the Limosine Liberal charge has been to them. It's like Hollywood prattling on about the Green Oscars because they traveled in hybrid limos...even though many of them flew private jets thousands of miles to get to California!

Oh, also, please keep your views in mind the next time a scientist comes out with a study questioning global warming hysterics. All the left EVER does is call those people corporate shills, even though, by your logic, it shouldn't mater. But I am sure you'll try to spin this somehow....

The word for what you are saying is "Hypocricy". And smart voters (admittedly the vast minority) will see it, and know it for what it is.

In a word, if you think Global Warming is Real, and Energy Independance Vital, yo DO stop buying gas from Foreign sources and you DO buy a "Green" Car and you DO fly Comercial as opposed to a Private Jet. To do toherwise is to be dishonest, and hypocritical.

And really, are you telling us that Edwards HAD to spend $1K+ on his looks to be a part of our Democratic Process? Or that a man like him, who lectures us endlessly on the poor vs rich, shouldn't have, instead, given that 1K to the poor he supposedly feels so deeply for?

No, Edwards is Sociliam/Communism just like the Ruskies were. The great unwashed masses live in "Socialist Bliss" of equallity, all equally having very little, money OR freedom, while the Politikal Leadership (Edwards) live a life of luxury maintaining that Socialist Bliss. I guess $400 haircuts is deserved from bringing equallity in the form of universal 90% tax rates and the death of Capitalism to America, eh?

Your actions do replect on you, especially if your actions do not mirror your (Strident) Politics.

I guess my only point is, does it really matter? When push comes to shove, I am 100% confident that Gore would vote against global warming/foreign energy dependence and Edwards would vote in support of the poor. Their personal lifestyle is meaningless to me and has no bearing on their political decisions.

Every politician in this country is a hypocrite. An expensive haircut does not change anything in my mind. It's meaningless drivel used to smear a candidate and anyone with half a brain should be able to recognize that it has absolutely no bearing on their political views and votes.

    Really?

What about a Pro-Gun Control Pol who owns 40 guns?

    What about a Pro-Life Pol who's had 10 Abortions?

What about a Pro-Tax Pol who doesn't pay taxes?

What about a Pro-Security/Pro-Immigration Reform Pol who hires illegals from Iran?

What about a Pro-Chrisitanity Pol who engages in Gay sex?

    Etc....

    Etc.....

    Etc.....

If you think these have no bearing, well, that is your right of course. However, forgive me if I think you are simply making excuses because, in THIS CASE, it's one of your side that is the blatant and obvious hypocrite.
