Looking for opinions from left and right......

I had this forwarded to me. I am very interested in how everyone feels about the sentiments herein:

Written by a housewife from New Jersey and sounds like it! This is one
pissed off lady.
"Are we fighting a war on terror or aren't we? Was it or was it not started
by Islamic people who brought it to our shores on September 11, 2001? Were
people from all over the world, mostly Americans, not brutally murdered that
day, in downtown Manhattan, across the Potomac from our nation's capitol and
in a field in Pennsylvania ? Did nearly three thousand men, women and
children die a horrible, burning or crushing death that day, or didn't they?

And I'm supposed to care that a copy of the Koran was "desecrated" when an
overworked American soldier kicked it or got it wet?...Well, I don't. I
don't care at all.
I'll start caring when Osama bin Laden turns himself in and repents for
incinerating all those innocent people on 9/11.
I'll care about the Koran when the fanatics in the Middle East start caring
about the Holy Bible, the mere possession of which is a crime in Saudi
Arabia I'll care when these thugs tell the world they are sorry for hacking
off Nick Berg 's head while Berg screamed through his gurgling slashed
throat.
I'll care when the cowardly so-called "insurgents" in Iraq come out and
fight like men instead of disrespecting their own religion by hiding in
mosques.
I'll care when the mindless zealots who blow themselves up in search of
nirvana care about the innocent children within range of their suicide
bombs.
I'll care when the American media stops pretending that their First
Amendment liberties are somehow derived from international law instead of
the United States Constitution's Bill of Rights.
In the meantime, when I hear a story about a brave marine roughing up an
Iraqi terrorist to obtain information, know this: I don't care.
When I see a fuzzy photo of a pile of naked Iraqi prisoners who have been
humiliated in what amounts to a college-hazing incident, rest assured: I
don't care.
When I see a wounded terrorist get shot in the head when he is told not to
move because he might be booby-trapped, you can take it to the bank: I don't
care.
When I hear that a prisoner, who was issued a Koran and a prayer mat, and
fed "special" food that is paid for by my tax dollars, is complaining that
his holy book is being "mishandled," you can absolutely believe in your
heart of hearts: I don't care.
And oh, by the way, I've noticed that sometimes it's spelled "Koran" and
other times "Quran." Well, Jimmy Crack Corn and - you guessed it - I don't
care! ! ! ! !
If you agree with this viewpoint, pass this on to all your e-mail friends.
Sooner or later, it'll get to the people responsible for this ridiculous
behavior!
If you don't agree, then by all means hit the delete button. Should you
choose the latter, then please don't complain when more atrocities committed
by radical Muslims happen here in our great country! And may I add: "Some
people spend an entire lifetime wondering if they made a difference in the
world. But, the Marines don't have that problem." -- Ronald Reagan
I have another quote that I would like to add AND.......I hope you forward
all this. "If we ever forget that we're One Nation Under God, then we will
be a nation gone under." Also by.. Ronald Reagan
One last thought for the day: In case we find ourselves starting to believe
all the anti-American sentiment and negativity, we should remember England's
Prime Minister Tony Blair 's words during a recent interview. When asked by
one of his Parliament members why he believes so much in America, he said:
"A simple way to take measure of a country is to look at how many want in...

this woman's "i don't care" attitude is fundamental to what the Arab world hates about America.

Equating torture to 'college hazing'? Using Reagan's "Marine" Quote to push an agenda like this?

OK, let me get this straight. Is it that the maniacs in the Arab world hate us because of our "we don't care" attitude or the fact that we don't force our people to worship Allah? No matter how you slice it their hatred stems from their religion. Think what you want but by killing our non-Muslim innocence they believe they are doing their gods will. Stop making excuses for their insanity. I don't particularly like the fact that much of Western Europe has basically turned its back on true Christianity, is adopting socialist governmental policies, and is a backstabbing "ally" of the US, but I'm not advocating sending our bombers over to lay waste to their people.

Do us all a favor. Go live in that backward part of the world and tell us of their wonderful values and how we should adopt an attitude of tolerance to their way of thinking. Maybe if we understand why they hate us so much we won't be as angry when they blow up our citizens. We can have a nice lunch with them, have tea and crumpets and apologize for all of the naughty things we have done to them, like free them from the rule of murderous tyrants, right before they saw our heads off with a dull sword. Remember we need to be sensitive to the way others feel.

What a cop out. We are good and they are evil..... Give me a break they do not hate us because of our freedom or our religion. They hate us because of our foreign policy of the last 60 years and our support for Israel. They aren't beast, they are people that have fallen into extremist religion and group think, if we do not fuel the Islamic fire and we protect our own country, eventually it will subside.

Beside supporting Israel, our only true ally and democratic nation in the region, what foreign policy decisions have warranted hatred so great that killing innocent Americans is OK. These people have lived under the thumb of brutal rulers for century's and we've given them a taste of freedom. Nobody else. They are scared to death that people may actually choose to serve another god. Don't tell me its a cop out. When they say, "Allah Akbar", as there knives slice through your throat, as they crash planes into buildings, and blow up children in buses tell me again how its not about religion. Oh yea, its American foreign policy that caused Sadam to build hundreds of palaces with the oil for food revenues while his people starve in the streets, its American foreign policy that causes women to get shot or stoned to death if their big toe somehow gets exposed to the daylight. Wake up!!! Our influence in the world and in that region provides more wealth, opportunity and freedom for people to live as they want. Give me a break and stop blaming us. It's really disgusting. If we are such a bad nation, if our policies have brought so much hardship to these places, than why is every candy, dollar and whatever other store of your choice being opened up by legal Arab immigrants?

Just to clear a few minor things up:

http://www.snopes.com/politics/soapbox/foster.asp

The fact that it was written by someone other than a housewife from NJ doesn't really change the message.

On that note, how many of the muslim faith have died now that we have invaded Iraq and failed to secure it immediately?

65000 to 75000 thousand is the estimate. Have enough people of the Islamic faith died yet so that those who died on 9/11 are revenged? Should we care?

Now a majority of those deaths have been caused by factional fighting and extremists within those groups and are not directly related to US troops doing the killing. Yet, this is still partly our fault because we were unprepared going in. It has gotten out of hand and all the killing feeds upon itself because the more people die, the more people become fanatical about revenge.

Religion then becomes an easy tool to shape the mind for sacrifice. A promise to be rejoined with those who were killed, a promise of a grand afterlife.

To me what was posted is a rant. There are no solutions, only rage, only a way to fan the fire that erupted on 9/11. There are much deeper dicussions to be had to find where the fire was first lit and how we can learn from our mistakes.

This person can stop caring all he wants. But that will not solve the problem that we have in Iraq or with the Islamic world.

I do not believe that everyone of the Islamic faith is an extremist. However, without a doubt, our missteps in Iraqi have created many more extremists and that is a tragedy. This is because more of our extremely brave soldiers are in harms way and that means more won't be coming back home.

What has to be done is find a way to stop extremism of all kinds. This rant does nothing of that sort.

F-4,

Your post is well taken but you need to understand that way before America was even created Muslims were killing Muslims. This is their way. You might argue then what are we doing there in the first place trying to bring democracy to them? It's their only hope and our only hope to eradicate extremism. They have never really had a chance at it before. Most Muslim nations have been ruled by unelected theocracy's or dictatorships throughout their history. You may be correct in that mistakes have been made in the way the war has been conducted but that's part of war. We don't need any Monday morning QB's telling us what's going on is our fault. What we are trying to accomplish is noble. The fact that ten's of thousands of Iraqi's have been slaughtered is something that shouldn't be surprising. We need to look at it as "growing pains." And no, I'm not trying to make light of it. It's horrible, but not uncommon in their history. On the down side though, if democracy doesn't work and Muslim extremism is allowed to ferment the 65 to 75 thousand that have been killed so far by their own will pale in comparison to the number we will have to kill in order to ensure our survival.

That's right, America created radical Islam.
