They should decouple immigration reform from border security. There is no reason that they should be part of the same bill. The statues quo is a disaster but this bill was complete BS on multiple levels.

Very disappointed in the way Bush has handled the south border-illegal immigration situation.

I don't know if this was a good bill but something needs to be done.

The problem is it no longer pays for congress to compromise on any issue.

And that is what is wrong with our government today, it is all or nothing.

You can say that again. I just really don't understand why he would continue to push something like this. Political suicide for a man who has nothing left to run for...but I just cant see anyway the people in Texas would support this bill.

Couple all of this together with the land grabbing going on for the NAFTA Superhighway and your end result is a bunch of POed southerners.

It took a few years...but the New Haven in GB is starting to come out. The fallacy that he is a cowboy from Texas who understands the little guy who lives in flyover country is starting to unravel.

CNN had this page showing how all the Senators voted on the bill. Make a note so next time whoever voted Yes is up for re-election you know to vote the bastards out.

Hillary and Schumer both voted yes. Big surprise there.

    woo-hoo

    a trifecta this week

    amnesty - dead
    race-based integration move - kaput
mccain-feingold - weakened and hopefully headed
    to the dustbin of history

    lets go for 4...
fairness doctrine - on the way down & out

not a peep from lib*s-their apathy/hypocrisy is at once
    delicious frightening and appalling

so, how're our latest surge operations
    goin'? are we losing yet?

other than his stand on amnesty-
puzzling to be certain and as libtarded as the day is long

    what hasnt he done?

didnt give tax refunds to people who didnt pay taxes?

failed to cause cancer in lab rats with cells from
    living embryos (ie humans)?

failed to give the chicoms missile techknowledgey?

and why was kerri or gore a better choice for the
    american people?

*well maybe condi has a blue dress in her closet.
a colleague swears that after bush leaves,
    itlle be public-lauras already out

**hey its as real a tale as global warming

    buster hyman,
duh, of course it was a horrendous bill - one of the worst ever conceived

some of these goofballs, like goober graham and voinodicck didnt even know what was in it

no one did a cost analysis

it rewarded criminality for a pittance, never to be
collected, that is and would have
been far outstripped by decades of handouts

the provisions would never have been enforced-the last
amnesty provisions werent so why would these

bush might be doing it for religious reasons,
or because he has sympathies for mexicans
for any number of reasons personal, practical, business-
nevertheless he and rove, snow, etc are still way wrong

a national bill can pass without texas' support,
    no mater how poed they get;

why is "land grabbing" for a nafta superhighway
located in america, to benefit americans,
any better, or worse than eminent domain grabs
    in new london ct, or oakland, ca;

already toldja about the part about mexico needing to
help their own bad selfs -after being in opec and a sovereign
nation for 150 yrs or so, with us as an example next door
    youdve think theyve had
    made progress by now-
you dont see canadians sneaking in here like that

Bush is accomodating Calderon in an effort to keep Mexico aligned with the US and away from Chavez. ITs a good concept and the immigration issue needs to be addressed, however this bill was definitely not the answer. Unfortunately I have no faith in either party having the ba**s to get a bill done the right way.
