I was under the impression that if a player is cut during the pre-season as part of trimming the roster down to the final 53, that player, no matter what their tenure, was an UFA and could sign with any team.
Wali Lundy and Ciatrick Fason could interest the Jets. But keep in mind they'd lose Danny Ware if they put him on the Practice Squad.
Lundy would make for a very nice #3 RB. I like Ware a lot, but Lundy would be a good pickup as well.

C4 as he was called at UF had some decent showing with Minn.

    Lundy is nice as well.

They would both beat out Danny Ware.

EDGERTON HARTWELL was cut today by the bengals he was ray lewis's bodyguard in the 3-4 in baltimore. and was hurt in atlanta and miscast by cincinnati as a outside linebacker. i wouldn't mind this BEAST backing up vilma and harris.
That's what the NFL CUTS THREAD is for, stream .. we can discuss PRE CUT issues in that thread as well ;)

So if you don't mind I'm going to merge the two, just to avoid any confusion
The Vikings just cut RB Artose Pinner. I'd be all over him as the #3 RB if I was the Jets.

Sorry Danny Ware, I like you but it's the practice squad for you my lad. Pinner is a very good short yardage and goal-line type, ideal as a #3 RB.

He'd be nice too, or Wali Lundy. I have always liked Pinner a lot though, so he'd be my first choice. Any of those guys would be nice pickups, IMO.

Steelers cut C Chukky Okobi (can he play OG?). They also cut DE Ryan McBean, who some people liked as a 3-4 OLB prospect in the draft.

Haven't turned on the tube recently, is NFL Network going to cover cuts somewhat real-time?

The Jets moved up in the draft for Revis and Harris using late second and middle round picks. IMO the Jets evaluation of the middle rounds having less value than usual, is reinforced by cuts like McBean

    McBean was a UT/3-4DE prospect.

RB Antonio Pittman was cut by the Saints.

GB just made a trade with the Giants for RB Ryan Grant, that takes them out of the mix for Lundy, Fason, and Pinner.

Washington just released Reynaldo Wynn. Could be a fit for the Jets.
