Marriage and Prostitution

CBNY i saw this post on the main board and had to quote it. Classic
I've done the math. Every month I provide my wife with:

Housing: 1500
Vehicle: 410
Electric: 200
Water: 50
Phone/internet/cell: 160
TV: 100
Health Ins. 250
Car Ins. 150
Food: 200
Credit cards: 500
Miscellaneous crap: 300

If we have sex 30 times a month, its costing me 127 bucks.
If we have sex 10 times a month, it's costing me 382 bucks.
If we have sex once a month, it's costing me 3,820 bucks.

Add to this all the non-monetary things like nagging, drama, required conversations, arguments and other events typical of committed relationships and the cost increases exponentially. 5K starts to look like a bargain.
i agree 100%. If you legalize it , there could be some regulation to try to ensure a level of safety for all sides.

and the government can tax the living **** out of it. lol

since you seem so hellbent on comparing prostitution to marriage why'd you get married then??

it would make more sense to write her a check at the end of the month and send her on her way....

Aren't a lot of these big escort services tied to the mob? If so they'll never be legalized. Just like drugs never will.

ya know that's a tough but fair comment, CBNY. Very fair.

I got married because we were basically married already - whether society recognised it as such. We lived together for 8 years, bought a house together, built a life together, we were in a sense already married. If a broken satellite fell from the sky i didn't want people to say Mr Bitonti and unnamed girlfriend were trapped in the blaze, there were no survivors. It was about declaring a de facto union to society. It was about declaring next of kin - if i got hit by a car and was in a vegitative state i didn't want my mother putting me in footie pajamas and keeping me around as a living doll. Maybe that's petty but it was important to me.

Also it should be noted we both work all day, we are DINKs. so our union is pretty fair, not like one is "paying" the other, like the poster above. Is our marriage like prostitution? No. Are all marriages like Prostitution? NO. A prostitute cannot be your next of kin.

But some marriages are financial agreements... the poster above lays it all out in real terms... maybe for some marriage is more like prostitution than they care to admit. Maybe for some prostitution would have been a better option. I can't speak for everyone but I don't see the cause for moral uprising. outlawing prostitution is like outlawing booze or drugs, you aren't really stopping the practice, but you are creating a huge black market for organized crime to benefit.

no...it's was actually an idiotic comment and purposely designed as one...the only thing more pathetic is what follows...
But some marriages are financial agreements... the [B]poster above lays it all out in real terms... maybe for some marriage is more like prostitution than they care to admit. he does???

I can't speak for TPAJETSKI but unless his wife sits around all day and does nothing else nothing you may want to think about what he is infering is real...in fact it's the furthest thing from the truth....

amongst other things if you ever have a kid(s) and see how your wife takes care of them and carts them around you'll never understand what I am talking about....

until then I'd expect you to be as shallow as ever....

CBNY you asked me a question, I gave you an honest answer, more honest than anything you've ever posted on this board. I deserve respect. You might not agree with me, but ease of the insults tough guy.

I'm honored (I think) that my post has been exported to the "ahem" political board. While I don't have a dog in this fight and my post was clearly tongue in cheek, I will pose this question....If there was no such thing as sex, how many of us, would be married?

the sarcasm passed right over you....

regardless- to start comparing marriage to prostitution by using an example of a poster who charts out his expenses then divides them by the number of times he's been laid is in fact shallow...

and my gosh- a dude complains about not getting laid enough....what's next?? someone on the political forum calling karl rove evil???

Don't get me wrong, LOVE and RESPECT play a massive role as well for why I will be getting married shortly enough (within a year or so likely).

But beyond that, absolutly 100% QFT Bit. I am "Married", i.e. comitted absolutely and utterly already, and have been for over 10 years. The States recognition of that fact is merely a benefit, not a purpose in and of itself.

Great post IMO.

Way back in college I took Sociology 101. I remember someone made a (plausible?) argument that prostitution actually saves marriages. The theory is that men can just go out and get their freak on without dating or becoming emotionally attached to another woman.
