March 14, 2008 -- JUPITER, Fla. - The MetsNew York Mets expect to find out soon what year Citi Field will play host to the All-Star Game.
A club spokesman said the Mets have been promised a game and were told by commissioner Bud Selig's office that an announcement on a year will be made by this summer.
WEPN reported yesterday that Citi Field is likely to get the game in 2013, but the commissioner's office would not confirm that date. The Mets move from Shea Stadium to Citi Field next season.
"We haven't been given any date," Mets spokesman Jay Horwitz said. "We have nothing to confirm on our end other than the word from the commissioner's office that an announcement is coming soon."
Yankee Stadium will be the site of this summer's All-Star Game. The Mets have hosted one All-Star Game in their history, with Shea being the site in 1964.
