Dwayne Robertson's Cap Hit

Anybody else completely confused about what the cap implications are of cutting, not trading, D-Rob? Any contract/salary cap gurus out there? I could use the help. Assuming the worst--that the Dwayne Robertson trades both fall through because of failed physicals and money--here's how I see their options. They are based only on the info I have about his contract, which I got from Rotoworld:

http://www.rotoworld.com/content/playerpages/player_contract.aspx?sport=NFL&id=925

2003: Signed a seven-year, $54 million contract. The deal includes $13 million in guarantees, the majority of which were paid in an option bonus.
2008: $6.8 million (+ $3 million roster bonus due in June)
2009: $4.5 million
2010: Free Agent.

Cap charges:
2008: $12 million
2009: $9.7 million

Non-Option 1: Trade him and new team negotiates new contract
==========================================
Total cap hit over two years: 0m

Total cap savings over two years: 12m in 2008 and 9.7m in 2009=21.7m

==========================================
Option 2: Cut him before June 1
==========================================
2008 cap number: 12m
-plus-
2009 cap number: 9.7m
-minus-
6.8m (2008 non-guaranteed salary)
3m (2008 roster bonus don't have to pay)
4.5m (2009 non-guaranteed salary)
= 7.4
(hit takes effect in 2008):
2008 hit: 7.4m (Frees up 4.6m in cap money in 2008.)
2009 hit: 0m (Frees up 9.7m in cap money in 2009)

Total cap savings over two years: 14.3m

==========================================
Option 3: Cut him after June 1
==========================================
2008 cap number: 12m
-plus-
2009 cap number: 9.7m
-minus-
6.8m (2008 non-guaranteed salary)
4.5m (2009 non-guaranteed salary)
=
10.4m
(hit divided over 2008 and 2009):
2008 hit: 5.2m (Frees up 6.8m in cap money in 2008)
2009 hit: 5.2m (Frees up 4.5m in cap money in 2009)

Total cap savings over two years: 11.3m

==========================================
Option 4: Keep him
==========================================
Total cap hit over two years:
12m in 2008
-plus-
9.7m in 2009

Total cap savings over two years: 0m

==========================================
Bottom line:
==========================================
Trading him is best, obviously. But if we can't trade him and info above is correct, we'll cut him before June 1... It will be a cap hit of 7.4m this year, which frees up 4.6m in salary cap this year. It's not as much as the 5.2m we'd free up this year if we waited until after June 1. But it's also only a difference of -2.2m this year and we wash our hands of the contract altogether next year, freeing up 9.7m in 2009.
