thanks for the great idea!!!

it'll serve a dual purpose....first it will protect me against the global warming lunatics then I can use it when global warming actually hits catastrophic conditions...or at least hand it down through five generations so my descendants can use it for the same purposes...

see who claims this forum is nothing more than biased political banter!!!

As usual, more manipulation by the master. Many scientists who believe in climate change say that there were gradual temperature increases unfolding as the world became more dependant on coal and other dirty forms of energy.

The Institute of Public Affairs (IPA) is a think tank based in Melbourne, Australia that has been variously described by commentators as conservative and libertarian. Uh, how can a group that was founded in 1943 be responsible for a newspaper article in 1922? Thought you were a history teacher.

Did you read my post? The site, which is funded by such objective sources as exxon, Shell and woodside petroleum, culls news stories that fit their agenda. So, if a story is written in 1922 or 1822 they will use it if it fits the message.

The article reports that there may be a rise in temperature in the Arctic during the 1920's. This is widely agreed upon by many (not all) of the climate change advocates. Again, as the world relied more on coal and other dirty energies, there was a deleterious affect on our climate.

I don't think you understand. I don't think they're the ones who dug it up. Let me ask you a question: what if you're the nutjob?

why would they dig something like this up, or for that matter anything else that shows the earth's climate has been constantly evolving and has gone through periods of warming in the past both recent and distant???

it would fly in the face or their arguement and expose them for the nutjobs they are....

CBTNY doesn't care about global warming. He hates Al Gore and therefore he hates anyone who believes it is happening.
If you replace Gore with Nancy Reagan, CBTNY would be the biggest supporter of global warming on this board.

It is a partisan issue for CBTNY.

Here is how the food chain works;

Big Oil/gas/coal can't stand the idea of global warming because it is a threat to billions of dollars in profit$. At the highest levels they have known for a while that the evidence is real and true. In this way, its very similiar to the tabacco companies' sins. For these companies, the bottom line is the bottom line; its completely unacceptable to lose a dime of their billions in profit.
+
Millions of dollars are then sent, by these corporations, into the republican machine to fund campaigns that create science to disprove global warming. Money is also used to buy politicians and their votes.
+
The republican machine then sends daily talking points out to their well-paid media captains to manipulate the population. Armed with the created science, the hannitys, limbaughs, glenn backs and Fox News portion of the media, along with the bought and paid for politicians, make an appealing sales pitch to their very loyal followers. Its the usual nationalistic propaganda that climate control citizens are against America and capitalism and so on. And since these people enjoy an incredibly wealthy life from blind loyality, they do not do their jobs and question the data/message. Money also is used to prop up web sites and books that spew their message.
+
Finally the lowest group on the totem poll, the Come Back to Earth, Dean patsfan crowd. They are the people who, blinded by partisan politics, buy the message hook, line and sinker. They are told that climate control is a conspiracy by the democrats and, of course, that is enough for them. Because they blindly follow the media captains, they put complete faith in their message. They are the willing sheeple who are the biggest unpaid advocates of big oil and they don't even realize it. They get the fabricated message out to the population by word of mouth, forums or voting for the politicans who are in the pocket of big oil.
+
The end result is an effective campaign of 'top down' style of misinformation. And the losers will be our childrens' children who, long after these people are gone, will have to deal with the affects of their selfishness and greed.
