Jeremy Hermida (hamstring) appeared as a DH in the minor league game on Thursday, but the Marlins don't expect to have him available on Opening Day.
Manager Fredi Gonzalez said afterwards that Hermida would likely go on the disabled list and miss the first four games of the season. Luis Gonzalez would start in right field. No word yet on who would play short right field to cut off his throws.

Lets hear some predictions on combined losses of the Nats and Fish for the year. These 2 teams are going to be downright awfull.

    Im saying 195 combined losses.

I dont think the Nats will be that bad.

Also... Game 3 starter, young left Andrew Miller.

Nats pitching is awful and it will get exposed out of RFK. They will probably win about 75 games IMO.

Is Maybin starting in the minors?

I believe Odalis Perez is their #1 starter and Tim Redding is penciled in as their #3 starter. That's enough said...

    lol. seriously.

Odalis Perez on National TV Tonight for Opening Night.

Good move MLB by not contracting the Expo's. What a great product they are putting out for the fans

You can't build a championship caliber team over night, a new stadium was a good start that process.

A new stadium doesnt necessarily translate into championships.

The Expo's/Nationals have been a disaster for a while. Would anyone have really cared if they just had gone away?

Well neither does big FA acquisitions. We haven't won chit in 22 years. I agree with Ryan, it's a start for them getting a new stadium and their farm system looks quite good.

But Sean, come on. The Expos/Nationals have sucked since 1994. They had one winning season over that span i believe.

Wining titles, and putting out a product that is capable of wining, is two completely different things.

Also, maybe I am wrong, I am certainly not the minors leauge buff that you, sean, and others here appear to be, but I have never heard of their farm system being highly regarded.

So what do you want them to do? Go and splurge for mediocrity in this FA market? They'll be good in a few years and Jim Bowden has made a lot of great moves.
