Mets need to take advantage of the weakened state of the Braves. Their pen is shot so hopefully the Mets can either rattle Hudson early and chase him out or work the counts and make him throw a lot of pitches early.

Either way I feel like they have a great chance to come out tonight with a W...that is as long as the rain doesn't come in and give them a chance to rest.

I wouldn't expect to see Kelly Johnson play. His knees are pretty bad. He may wind up on the DL.

Sucks to see players get hurt but I can't say I wouldn't be happy to see him riding the bench. Hes an underrated player.

You just know they're going to start Gotay tonight...with Johnson being hurt and all.

Really though, I agree. I want to see 2 out of 3. The Pelfrey game makes me nervous, but then again our hitters should know Glavine's game by heart by now.

Mets should take two out of three...and possibly sweep if they can get into the Braves bullpen by the 6th inning in all three games. Hudson and Glavine rarely pitches late into games.

Game of the week has to be Sunday with Smoltz going against Santana.

this game may not be as "in the bag" as Met fans would think; knowing Smoltz's competitive nature (as a Yankee fan, I felt he was the only guy to show up in the 1999 World Series) the prospect of keeping up with Santana should result in a stellar peformance.

Sort of how Mussina always seemed to match Pedro pitch for pitch whenever they faced off against each other, which seemed to happen all the time for a few seasons.

Maybe they'll start a left handed reliever in the outfield instead, for situational purposes. Genius!

Actually, Hudson is great at going deep into games. He pitched 224 innings last year. Reason being is because he's quick to work his way through Innings (Averaged just 14.1 Pitches/Inning last year).

Maine is getting squeezed badly in this first inning. He should have struck out Tex and Franc.

Edit: He got Franc anyway. That gun is either Juiced, or Maine had a big cup of coffee before the game. I saw him touch 97.

Na... Looks like Maine is a little too strong.

His FB was sitting at 95-97 and his slider was at 88-90

As wild as Maine has looked, he has 4 Ks

Nicely done, he's at 45 pitches already though. He's going to need a quick inning.

Nice that they reversed it,but it still cost the Mets another run. Had it been ruled correctly the first time, 2 runs score.

But it did look like Pagan would have passed Church because he was full speed ahead as though there was no doubt it was dropping while Church held up.
