    Claudio Vargas a Met?

    Claudio Vargas-S- Brewers Apr. 9 - 5:22 pm et

The New York Post is reporting that the Mets could have Claudio Vargas signed as early on Thursday.
It's the smart move with Orlando Hernandez out. Vargas would get a minor league deal and probably make a couple of starts at Triple-A before claiming a rotation spot.
    Ehhh not terrible.

Sad to say considering his promise but he's a much better option right now than Pelfrey. MUCH BETTER! And that speaks volumes more about how pathetic Pelfrey is than it does how good Vargas is.

Not only about how much Pelfrey has dissapointed although he's young but the lack of MLB ready pitching prospects. We are stocked with guys in LOW levels but AA and up we have few and they are mostly raw as well.

Metsblog is reporting it as a done deal.

My belief is it's only a Minor League deal for him to make a couple starts before getting called up. Keep in mind Clemens signed a 'Minor League Deal' his years he came up midseason. He probably has an out clause where if he isn't on the MLB roster by ____ date that he can void the rest of his deal.

Still, good move. With El Duque having his recent setback this became a no-brainer. I like Figueroa, but you can't count on him.
