Anyone got any quasi-creative ideas to get my old man who claims he doesn't need anything?

Got him a Tommy Bahamas shirt last year, and can always do the same again, but that's kinda weak.

He likes fishing and diving, but I can't think of anything to get him related to those two hobbies.

    He's in his early 60s.
I'm sending out a bulletin on Myspace and later Facebook wishing nothing but the best for all of my illegitimate children, where ever and whoever they are. Then I'll be going down to NJ from NY to chill with my pop, probably going to see the Incredible Hulk and smoke a few cigars.
Bring him some packages of Bubba Burgers when you're mom isn't looking.

If you have a Dick's Sporting Goods near you, they have tons of great fishing stuff anyone would love.

Tools are always good...rod & reels are kind of personal, so I'd hold off on anything like that.

Or you could just buy a small utility box, throw a bow on it, and put all kinds of stuff inside he could use on his fishing trips - i.e. Swiss Army Knife, sunblock, bug repellent, flashlight, bottle opener, bandages (I call myself Fishooked for a reason, lol ;) ) or anything else you can think of.

Used to play tennis all day on FD, with my pops. He's gone 3 years now. So I will get the King's Treatment. I tell my young men to write a card, and now I have a drawer full of horribly drawn FD cards that say things like "Sorry You're Gay...but at least you smell good...j/k, Happy Father's Day, ____"

    It's a great life.

    Thanks Fish.

Problem is, he's not a true fisherman....he goes about 3 times a year and always goes via a charter. I'm not complaining b/c I get to go with him, but getting any type of fishing gear like you suggest may be a waste.

He has talked about getting into fly fishing, so maybe a fly rod is in order....

    Ok, gotcha.
My suggestion then would be to get him a gift card to Dick's or maybe Orvis - I know nothing about flyfishing so I don't dare venture into those waters (so to speak).

I'm golfing with a bunch of other Dads on our annual Friday-before-Father's Day outing. Weather's gonna be good, the beer will be flowing, and barbecue will be served after the round. Best of all, these guys suck as much as I do at the game.

And very much like Green, I lost my Dad 11 years ago, to cancer too, and he barely got to know my son and wasn't around for my daughter.

Well put! I hade a similar situation with my dad who passed in 94. There was no bigger Jet or Namath fan then him. Have found memories of our cold days together at Shea with my uncles back in the late 60's and early 70's. It's gonna break my heart when they tear the place down.

Happy Fathers day in heaven Dad.

Just want to wish everyone here at :jetsinsid a Happy Father's Day to you & yours!

Turning in early to hit the lake around 5am :fishing2:, then heading over to my sisters to meet my Dad for a family BBQ.

    Have fun everyone! :band2:

LOL...I can't wait to have a son someday. Daughters are great, love 'em to death...but sometimes it sucks being the only dude in the house. I need to get a partner in crime so we can both play tricks on Mom...

Lol, I'm proud of when I nailed her when she was some stuck-up beauty that liked to make me think she hated me.

    It counted more then! Lolza
