    Another reason to hate Papel*****

This guy is too easy to hate.

    http://yankees.lhblogs.com/

Terry Francona has literally said all the right things when it comes to the Yankees, even to the point of saying he’s hitting Derek Jeter second “because that’s where he deserves to be.”

Kevin Youkilis, David Ortiz, J.D. Drew, Dustin Pedroia … the same.

Respectful of the Stadium, the Yankees, the tradition, everything.

Then we have Jonathan Papelbon, who thinks he should close tomorrow night.

“If I was managing the team, I would close. … But I’m not managing the team,” he said today.

Sam Borden and some of the other writers there asked Papelbon whether Mariano Rivera had earned the right to close.

“I think we both earned that right.” he said

After acknowleding Rivera’s status, he said he earned the right to close by winning the World Series last season.

Talk about delusional. It’s Yankee Stadium, he’s having a Cy Young year, Mariano closes. Period, end of story.

Terry Francona wouldn’t bite when asked what he would do. But Joe Girardi seemed to have idea.

“Terry is a wise man,” he said. “He knows what to do.”

It's not this quote that bothers me...it's the other things he says.

The whole debacle of the Rays brawl and him talking about their next meeting, then when they face the Rays they promptly get swept.

No, for being a retard and speaking his mind. That little punk needs to show some respect.

Is he is forgetting his several blown saves and failure against the Yankees as recently as last week? Mo has 4 rings and he has 1, it is his building, he needs sit down and shut up.

Screw that. Maybe he remembers Rivera choking against the Sox in the biggest choke in the history of the playoffs?

Look, the question was NOT whether he respects Mo or not, it was who should close. He has JUST the attitude you want in a closer. He WANTS the ball. He KNOWS he is the MAN. (Whether its true or not.)

Alright if that's the only stat...

    Papelbon: 4 Blown Saves

    Rivera: 0 Blown Saves

    Simple enough?

    You're missing the point.

Someone asks him if he should be the closer. What do you want your closer to say? He has a closer's mentality. "GIVE ME THE BALL."

He could be a fake politically correct doosh like 99% of them...instead he gave the answer of HOW HE ACTUALLY FELT! Not a fact...HIS REAL OPINION!

Moron or not, what do you expect the guy to say? Of course as a closer he wants to put the game away.

I really don't see anything wrong with what he said, and I think he's a douche bag.

TD, sometimes you have to take off your rose colored Yankees glasses.

OK, then but don't bring up saves.

When you do that you bring up the comparisons to him and Mariano.

Knowing Paps he just looks at the total number...not the blown ones!

it's funny.....today I was watching SC on espn and they were doing the titletown segment, and Papelbon had an interview for Boston......it was about 5 minutes long, and just about the whole time I was thinking to myself "wow never realized how much of a douchebag Papelbon was"......Just about everything he said came off as arrogant and jerk-offish as you can get......personally idk who should close the game, the GOAT or this moron
