    Around The League Thread

Rays lost, Twinkies lost, Sox still to play

Yankees are now 4.5 games behind the Rays

With Minnesota's loss today, the Yankees could overtake them in the wildcard race in the next three days.

Hopefully the Angels can beat the Sox again tonight and make us 2 behind in the L column

I like this thread idea. Hopefully we can keep it going.

Yanks currently 4.5 GB in the division, 5 in the L column and 3.5 GB in the wild card, 3 in the L column. This is a big series against the Twins starting tomorrow.

    Mets 53-46 1st place

    Phillies 53-46 1st place

    Marlins 52-45 0.5 games back

    Atlanta 46-52 6.5 games back

    Nationals -- why bother

    You didn't specify a league

    Nice

NL central is crazy with three good teams all battling and making moves. The Brewers have been impressive lately while the Cubs can shut down a team and then lose 12-4 the next day. Cards just keep grinding out wins, really hope the Mets can take them in their series next week. Central is the most exciting division just above the AL central and AL/NL east.

Meanwhile, the NL west is close but just a putrid division. No one wants to take the lead. I think the D-Backs will pull through with their pitching.

If the Fish win tomorrow, a 3 way tie atop the NL East on Tuesday with head to heads coming up. Should be fun.

    and Boston gets swept.

They are not the same team as last year, there bullpen is very vulnerable.

2 games behind Boston in L column.

I heard Cashman is talking with the Pirates to get either Nady or Bay. They said they are getting pretty serious in these talks.

with all the injuries theyve had how could they be? but i would still not want to face them in the playoffs if they had home field advantage. i feel alot better about the angles chances now though, theyve looked good against them this year, 1 series left coming up. its amazing what being healthy can do for your club.

****ing Angels... that is just one well run organization.

I wish the Yankees where healthy. At least Damon will be back soon.

Angels and the Twins are probably the two best at running an organization the best to their abilities

The As had a nice run and often overshadow the twins, but IMO the twins are the best hands down

Well, I dunno, they got burned by the Mets and that Delmon Young for Garza trade isn't looking good.

It's kind of a weird triangle. Yanks can't beat the Angels, and the Angels typically have a hard time with the Sox. Yanks and Sox are about even.

I pick the Angels to go this year. Great pitching, enough offense, great closer, very good manager. And John Lackey is the best starting pitcher that not enough people talk about.

Let's not forget they got Ortiz coming back to that line-up, if they keep hitting at the same clip and Ortiz comes back like his old self, they coudl easily take the division which leaves it to us to beat the Rays.

AL East is tough this year, there's no real "automatic wins" within the division.

Jays are only 48-50 and have a nasty pitching staff
And the O's are finding a way to not be horrid at 47-50. A lot of people give Girardi crap but the way he's handled the bull pen will be key in helping us get victories at the end of the year when other teams pens are burnt out.

Mets can really make an impact these next 9 games.

Aside from the Mets, I must say I cheer for the Twins when we're not playing them, just so much respect for that organization.
