    Any news on Washburn?

Is this thing happening for the Yankees or not?

I think it will go right to the deadline to see who blinks first.

If Seattle just wants to reduce payroll it will be a done deal.
If they continue to insist that the Yanks part with something of value it will depend on the Yanks alternative plans for replacing Ponson and Rasner.

I think a deal gets done.

We got a little over 5 minutes left...

Doesn't look like this deal will get done...

You can't blame Cashman for not doing it, the Mariners are insane if they really thought they could get anything of value for Washburn...

When a deadline is not a deadline

    JULY 31

If the Yankees fail to obtain a starting pitcher today, there is no need to panic or resign yourself to The Summer of Sidney.
The type of players the Yankees want would be high-priced veterans than they get for a B-level prospect or two. Those type of pitchers are likely to clear waivers and be available in August.

We’re talking Jarrod Wasburn, Vicente Padilla, Paul Byrd, Bronson Arroyo, guys like that. They all wouldn’t clear, but one or two of them would.
The competition in the AL - Boston, Tampa Bay, Los Angeles - is not looking for No. 5 starter types.

Good I'm glad, don't need this guys salary or to lose a prospect. I got faith in either Hughes Kennedy or Pavano, thats right Pavano.
