    Jason Bay to the Rays {false alarm}

    MLB.com's Bill Chastain with the scoop - the Rays have acquired Jason Bay for Reid Brignac and Jeff Niemann. The Rays haven't confirmed it yet though.
    Rays finally gave in it seems like.

    Nice deal for Rays. Brignac is a top prospect infielder wise but having Bay this year and next is huge.

    Niemann, 25, has a 3.53 ERA in 18 Triple A starts this year. He'll probably go straight into the Pirates' rotation. Baseball America feels he has #2 or #3 starter stuff, but his star has dimmed in recent times. Word on MLB rumors is the Rays are trying to replace him with two lower prospects.

    Deal is still unconfirmed.

    Last i heard the Dodgers refuse to put Kemp on the trading table so i doubt anything happens...If the Red Sox FO really wanted to get rid of the guy they wouldn't be demanding much compensation...They don't have the balls to say goodbye Manny because they know damn well they need Manny more than ever this year...Nothing is going to come of this (as usual), Manny is staying in Boston until the end of this season...

    There is one report where Florida asked Boston for 2 mill on top of the Sox eating Manny's remaining contract.

    As the deadline quickly approaches, rumors were abuzz that Jason Bay was headed to Tampa in return for shortstop Reid Brignac and pitcher Jeff Niemann. But not so fast.

    A source has told me there is no done deal... yet. One of the above names has not been made available. I've got no confirmation on this, but my guess is that Brignac is the one the Rays won't part with.

    More as this develops...

    The Rays' pursuit of Pirates outfielder Jason Bay is off "unless a miracle happens," according to a source close to the negotiations.

    Deal is off apparently.

    The Dodgers have acquired Manny Ramirez from the Red Sox, SI.com's Jon Heyman and NESN reports.
    NESN believes the Red Sox are getting Jason Bay in a three-team deal.
    What's going on!?!?
