Official call up Eddie Kunz thread

The best reliever the Mets could add at the deadline is currently in Binghamton. He's also the best reliever between either of the 2 New York farm systems, he's a straight beast...
He's been absolutely dominant in July, and has been great since the start of May. His GO/FO ratio is also like 3.5/1 which is insanely good.

The Mets need to call him up ASAP and send down Muniz...

Parnell is a possible candidate, too. Supposedly, he can touch 97-99 out of the Bullpen.

But, yeah, calling up Kunz is a must. We also need a nickname for him, too.

    A.G. Reed.
Parnell would be SICK out of the bullpen. I'd send down Muniz, DL Smith(to rest), and call up Kunz and Parnell for the bullpen.

I don't know about a nickname for him, but the event of WHEN he gets called up should be called Kunzapalooza

Eddie Kunz was lights out in a 1-2-3 ninth sitting 93-96 touching 97 with a hard slider.

    from toby hyde's blog yesterday

I thought he walks too many batters? Or has he solved the control issue?

    That doesn't help our bullpen

No it doesn't, but it was in response to MetsJetsRebels saying, "He's also the best reliever between either of the 2 New York farm systems."

Lance (Memphis, TN): Apparently, the Mets tried and failed to improve their bullpen at the trading deadline. Why not bring up Eddie Kunz? Wouldn't he be an upgrade over at least half of their bullpen?

SportsNation Keith Law: (2:06 PM ET ) They already have Joe Smith. They're too similar. And Kunz isn't exactly pounding the zone.

Seems like Keith Law is 16 months late, sort of like the Pirates.

It's hard to compare someone who throws a 94 mph sinker to Joe Smith, and I like Smith. I think he was going for the arm angle comparison, but if anything his arm angle is closer to Aaron Heilman then Joe Smith.

As for the walks, Kunz walked 1 batter in July. He seems to have his control issues, well, under control.

Melancon is having a better year, Kunz has more upside. You properly harness someone who is capable of putting up a 3.5 GB/FB ratio and a strikeout an inning and that's a dominant relief pitcher waiting to happen.

Player B, he's getting the job done. More saves.

Saves don't matter when comparing relief pitchers...
