Ryan Church will make his long-awaited return to the Mets tomorrow, sources told the Daily News.
"I'm champing at the bit," he said after going 0-for-4 in a rehab game with Double-A Binghamton Wednesday night following a flight from Triple-A New Orleans. "Considering the fact I was going on three hours' sleep, I felt pretty good."
Interim manager Jerry Manuel said that Church is not going to slide right back into his role as the everyday right fielder because a lot has changed in his absence. For one thing, he said that the tandem of Nick Evans and Dan Murphy will continue to man left field. And Fernando Tatis has played well, hitting .298 with 10 homers and 38 RBI.
