Palin hires lawyer to investigate "Trooper Gate"

So she's hiring someone to investigate herself?

Got a link so we can all know what you're talking about?

Or did you realize it's easier to make sarcastic comments without any content to fill other people in?

CNN... no link, saw it on the telecast. I'll expect an apology when you see it as well.

I'm just saying, it's a little easier to stimulate discussion when there's something there to read so we all know what you're talking about.

I'm not watching CNN, I'm watching the Rutgers game.

Well if you don't know the background of "Trooper Gate" here is some reading for you.
Palin has hired lawyer as trooper probe continues
    Posted: 05:52 PM ET

    From CNN Correspondent Dana Bash

(CNN) – Alaska Governor Sarah Palin hired a lawyer three weeks ago to act on her behalf as state legislators investigate whether she may have abused her power in firing the state police chief for refusing to fire her ex-brother-in-law, a state trooper, CNN has confirmed.

A report of findings of a legislative inquiry that began several weeks ago is currently slated to be released just days before Election Day.

She has asked the State Attorney General to investigate this previously I believe.

The 17 year old story will hopefully disappear, but this might became a big issue for the McCain's. We won't find out out the findings of an inquiry until a few days before the election.

Where did I stand up for the trooper? I stated something from experience, if you do not see that as relevant, so be it.

You may be on of the biggest frauds I have ever seen. You create your own reality and chastise anyone who doesn't agree with you.

What was lost in that thread, CBNY (not by you, but by the course of the discussion) is that the issue of the ethics probe is not the firing of the trooper ex-brother-in-law, but the fact that she fired the Public Safety Commissioner for not firing the trooper.

That's why there's an ethics probe. The move is viewed as Nixonian.

    not if:

1- she has the authority to fire Monegan (which she did)....

2- if Monegan was derlict in his duty in not firing Wooten....there's enough evidence discounting what went on with her sister that shows Wooten should've been gone....drinking beer in the patrol is not good....tasering the stepson is reckless...

    Of course.

But there would never have been an issue if Palin could fire Wooten directly (which she couldn't). That's my only point. The reason that there is a proble is because she fired Monegan and whether his not firing Wooten was worthy of him being fired.

It will be difficult to show that Monegan not firing Wooten is a dereliction of duty. It would be interesting to see if there were other "rogue" troopers like Wooten who were not related to Palin whom Palin never sought to have fired. If there is, Palin may be in trouble.

In any event, and in all seriousness, CBNY, do you think the McCain camp did a thorough job in vetting Gov. Palin?

I admire you CBNY for staying on these Palin threads.

I for one will no longer entertain a core of sexist posters who seem obsessed with attacking the qualifications of the Vice-presidential candidate of the GOP.

You are telling me it is not a legitimate to question the qualifications she has to be VP?

JF.. Please, tell me one thing that qualifies her to be VP during war time, just one. Other than Alaska being so close to Russia.

Honestly, there is nothing wrong with us debating political views. However, this has gotten out of hand. As another poster pointed out out there are more Palin threads then Jets threads.

IMO, both Obama and Palin have less experience historically then most candidates that have been nominated for the offices they seek. In the end, this may not be a bad thing because fresh blood may needed at the moment.

Lets let the campaign take shape over the next couple of months and may the best ticket win. But enough of the bashing threads (for both tickets, myself included).

Also lets not lose sight that no matter which party wins, history will be made because we will either have a President of African-American descent or a female Vice-President.
