Oh I get it, the cops at ground zero are going to protect me from invading "muslim barbarians" who want to take away my free speech. Which book did you read that in? Anne Coulter for Dummies?

Whatever, Dennis.

King Arthur: You don't vote for kings.
Woman: Well how'd you become king then?

[Angelic music plays... ]

King Arthur: The Lady of the Lake, her arm clad in the purest shimmering samite held aloft Excalibur from the bosom of the water, signifying by divine providence that I, Arthur, was to carry Excalibur. THAT is why I am your king.

Dennis: [interrupting] Listen, strange women lyin' in ponds distributin' swords is no basis for a system of government. Supreme executive power derives from a mandate from the masses, not from some farcical aquatic ceremony.

Oh, but you can't expect to wield supreme executive power just because some watery tart threw a sword at you.

Oh but if I went 'round sayin' I was Emperor, just because some moistened bint lobbed a scimitar at me, they'd put me away.

Come and see the violence inherent in the system. Help! Help! I'm being repressed!

My disagreement is not muzzling, its merely disagreement.

Get over yourself.
You get over me. I wasn't making a crack. I was being entirely literal. The only time free expression has ever been implicated in violent conflict here was the revolutionary war, and even then they evidently didn't really mean it because seditious libel remained a criminal offense until 1964. We're a lot more interested in fighting over the relative merits of ideas.

Plus, you can't save the planet at DD! Do you know you can help save world hunger and drought in the Northwest African Plains for just a mere, thoughtful contribution at Starbucks? Their orange cream french vanilla sparklng twist latte is delishhh too.
1. You only have to salute during the Pledge of Allegiance.
2. You are supposed to face the flag during the National Anthem, so a lot of people screwed up during the National Anthem.
3. Political propaganda doesn't help anyone.
But Sean Hannity told us that Obama is not being patriotic because of his hand placement during the anthem!? He said that it proves that Obama does not respect our soldiers. So there you go...

I can't read this **** anymore, I am logging out because Vice President Cheney is on CSPAN talking about the importance of respecting our call to duty with military service. He is giving a nasty scowl to some reporter who asked him about his five deferments during the Vietnam War. Just Another crazy liberal reporter challenging our great country in a time of war.

Interested?

Or forced into it?

We live in an age where some of our enemies wear no uniforms, have no geographical boundaries and are united only in their hate for Christianity, Judaism and the freedoms some of us hold so dear.

You can couch your disagreement in in all the flowery rhetoric you want, but this is the reality of Whahabism, who's followers believe that enforcing the belief in their "relative merits of ideas" means the death of Western Civilization.

BTW, this is by no means a defense of the Iraq war.....
Wow. Cutting edge commentary from the comfort of your suburban home.

Even if you detest the current administration, please consider that folks a lot less blessed than you spilled blood and gave their lives to ensure your right to vomit forth that pseudo-radical blather from behind the anonymity of a keyboard.

"It doesn't mean anything".......Clueless.
That's the REAL tragedy. That young poor and middle class kids buy
Into the patriotic rhetoric that is nothing more than propoganda- blood
Rising crap to get the soilders ready to kill. How many national anthems
Actually mention, bombs and rockets, like ours?
Then the poor disillusioned soilders get to die to protect the rich, white
Landowners land. Only they can't quite put it like that, so they dress it up
In a nice, red-white-and-blue package.

THAT'S your patriotism.

But what about what happens to all the soilders that come back broken?

How many Nations were borne from the blood, sweat and tears of our soldiers like ours?

The Brits didnt give us our Freedom, we defined it, and then took it from them.

Thats the sacrifice I refer to.

If it were up to spineless creatures like you, we'd be speaking cockney, Japanese, German and Arabic, in that order.

Go fluff your pillows and hit the sack, sally.

Green, why are you wasting your time with these clowns? They will never get it...these are the same jerks that protested my service when I was Vietnam. We didn't mind them protesting, but when they started carrying NVA or VC flags when they protested and wished death to me and my fellow soldiers, they left (and I mean left as in liberal left) forever.

It's not a very complicated point you're making. You were/are in the army and therefore you have to rationalize the losses you've seen by justifying the wars they were fighting. Wow, deep...

How about this one? (chorus in italics)
Allons enfants de la Patrie
Le jour de gloire est arrivé !
Contre nous de la tyrannie
L'étendard sanglant est levé
Entendez-vous dans nos campagnes
Mugir ces féroces soldats?
Ils viennent jusque dans vos bras.
Égorger vos fils, vos compagnes!
Aux armes citoyens
Formez vos bataillons
Marchons, marchons
Qu'un sang impur
Abreuve nos sillons
Que veut cette horde d'esclaves
De traîtres, de rois conjurés?
Pour qui ces ignobles entraves
Ces fers dès longtemps préparés?
Français, pour nous, ah! quel outrage
Quels transports il doit exciter?
C'est nous qu'on ose méditer
De rendre à l'antique esclavage!
Quoi ces cohortes étrangères!
Feraient la loi dans nos foyers!
Quoi! ces phalanges mercenaires
Terrasseraient nos fils guerriers!
Grand Dieu! par des mains enchaînées
Nos fronts sous le joug se ploieraient
De vils despotes deviendraient
Les maîtres des destinées.
Tremblez, tyrans et vous perfides
L'opprobre de tous les partis
Tremblez! vos projets parricides
Vont enfin recevoir leurs prix!
Tout est soldat pour vous combattre
S'ils tombent, nos jeunes héros
La France en produit de nouveaux,
Contre vous tout prêts à se battre.
Français, en guerriers magnanimes
Portez ou retenez vos coups!
Épargnez ces tristes victimes
À regret s'armant contre nous
Mais ces despotes sanguinaires
Mais ces complices de Bouillé
Tous ces tigres qui, sans pitié
Déchirent le sein de leur mère!
Nous entrerons dans la carrière
Quand nos aînés n'y seront plus
Nous y trouverons leur poussière
Et la trace de leurs vertus
Bien moins jaloux de leur survivre
Que de partager leur cercueil
Nous aurons le sublime orgueil
De les venger ou de les suivre!
Amour sacré de la Patrie
Conduis, soutiens nos bras vengeurs
Liberté, Liberté chérie
Combats avec tes défenseurs!
Sous nos drapeaux, que la victoire
Accoure à tes mâles accents
Que tes ennemis expirants
Voient ton triomphe et notre gloire!
That's the French National Anthem, La Marseillaise. Here's the translation:
Arise children of the fatherland
The day of glory has arrived
Against us tyranny's
Bloody standard is raised
Listen to the sound in the fields
The howling of these fearsome soldiers
They are coming into our midst
To cut the throats of your sons and consorts
To arms citizens Form your battalions
March, march
Let impure blood
Water our furrows
What do they want this horde of slaves
Of traitors and conspiratorial kings?
For whom these vile chains
These long-prepared irons?
Frenchmen, for us, ah! What outrage
What methods must be taken?
It is us they dare plan
To return to the old slavery!
What! These foreign cohorts!
They would make laws in our courts!
What! These mercenary phalanxes
Would cut down our warrior sons
Good Lord! By chained hands
Our brow would yield under the yoke
The vile despots would have themselves be
The masters of destiny
Tremble, tyrants and traitors
The shame of all good men
Tremble! Your parricidal schemes
Will receive their just reward
Against you we are all soldiers
If they fall, our young heros
France will bear new ones
Ready to join the fight against you
Frenchmen, as magnanimous warriors
Bear or hold back your blows
Spare these sad victims
That they regret taking up arms against us
But not these bloody despots
These accomplices of Bouillé
All these tigers who pitilessly
Ripped out their mothers' wombs
We too shall enlist
When our elders' time has come
To add to the list of deeds
Inscribed upon their tombs
We are much less jealous of surviving them
Than of sharing their coffins
We shall have the sublime pride
Of avenging or joining them
Drive on sacred patriotism
Support our avenging arms
Liberty, cherished liberty
Join the struggle with your defenders
Under our flags, let victory
Hurry to your manly tone
So that in death your enemies
See your triumph and our glory!
Yes, the terribly war-hawkish nation of France has a national anthem that is 1000% more bloody and propagandizing than ours.

And you're able to live free because of why again? Of course not by the sacrifices of our military...no, not that. So tell me, why are you able to live free in these United States?
