    Johan Santana - Absolutely Dominant

Nuff said. What a ridiculous performance on 3 days rest.

Amazing, simply amazing. He is the definition of ACE. He gives 110% every time.

He comes off a ballsy and clutch performance with a 125 outing.

After that we tap him again with our season hanging by a thread and he comes in on 3 days rest and throws a 3 hit CG shutout.

    Dominant.

For this entire second half, he has carried this team on his back. What is this, 16 straight quality starts? He had one bad start the entire second half and htat was the one in Cinci out of the all star break.

Playoffs or not, that was a legendary performance today.

    Johan Santana is a man.

I take back anything bad I said about him about not asking to stay in when he was pulled after 105 pitches right after Wagner went down.

It doesn't get much more clutch than today...

He's had a better season than Lincecum, but the Mets' bullpen may have cost him the hardware by blowing (8?) wins for him.

    Best pitcher in the game.

Only Halladay would make me pause to consider anyone else in making that claim. As predicted, after his usual slow start he has been the best in the game. Would love to hear Michael Kay's take now along with a few doubters from here from back in April/May. Almost every start the past two months by him has been a must win situation and he stepped up every time.

We need the good Ollie tomorrow!!

    Can they clone him?

As a Sox fan, I've thought many times this year that it would have been stupid of them to have traded for Santana with the rumored Lester-Ellsbury-Lowrie package. But performances like this make me think twice -- he is truly an incredible pitcher.

I love Johan but I would not trade the trio of RedSox you mention. Maybe during the winter that was a tough decision but as of now all three have actually produced and shown that they are Major League contributors for years to come. The same may hold through down the line for the Yanks players that were rumored in the Johan talks.

I am just happy things worked out for the Mets the way they did especially since Murphy and Niese appear to be better players than the ones we gave up to get Johan.
