Key Mets No shows at Shea Goodbye!

    Davey Johnson 86 mgr
    Ray Knight 86 WS MVP
    Gary Gentry 69 mets
    Gerry Grote 69 mets
    Mookie Wilson 86 mets
    Bobby Valentine 2000mgr

These Guys all deserved a ovation & salute at shea!

I know Nolan Ryan was invited but declined,He's still
pissed the Mets traded him for a Jim Fregosi

How do you invite The stork George Theodore & Not Dave Sneck or Don Hahn???????????

Where was Mike Vail,Skip Lockwood,Joel Youngblood???

Nice to see George Foster{famously released by 86 mets for his Racist attacks} get some Boo's but the funniest was when Al "TheYankee" Leiter was severely Booed for his Kazmir conspiracy & his betrayal of Bobby V.
Ralph Branca{Bobbys father in law} calls Leiter the"Biggest Baloney sandwich"

I was wondering about Wilson myself....

it was ballsy of them to have Foster and Kingman, espeically the way those guys left the organization....Kingman was hated almost everywhere he went...

I didn't see or hear the ceremony.
I'm kinda stunned it was done AFTER the game.

Not recognizing Joan Payson is shameful.

Please please tell me they did not forget Bill Shea.

I taped it and caught it after I returned from the Jets game...

they brought out Shea's kids, they brought out Pete Flynn of the grounds crew, they brought out some 45 year Mets exec no one ever heard of- but they forgot Joan Payson which made it all the more pathetic....

The biggest question is where was "Super" Joe McEwing and Mr. Dae Sung Koo?

I read a while ago that Mookie has fallen out with the current ownership. Forgot what the flap was about, but you won't see him around any time soon.

It was great to see Doc there. Hopefully he keeps himself clean and he and the Mets strengthen their ties again like Strawberry has. Would love to see him around CitiField or SNY in the coming years.

Also loved seeing Kingman back at Shea. Kong was my first favorite Met.

Half the guys the OP listed still work in baseball. Knight is a TV analyst for the Nationals Broadcast, Valentine still works in Japan, Davey is a consultant for the Nationals. I know the first two had prior commitments with their current teams, not sure about Davey.

I know Mookie has an ongoing feud with upper-management, but so do Carter and Backman and they were there, so I have to think Mookie probably turned the Mets down.

Yes I just called a my friend on the Mets groundcrew & was told Mookie has been Mad at upper mgt. after He was canned as 1stbase Coach.
Mookie mgr.ed Cyclones & has paid his dues maybe He felt he deserved a shot at Mgr.of mets INSTEAD OF RANDOLPH????

Mookie is a Great Man & if Jeff Wilpon & Omar have burt him It just proves their incompetance.

That's right, now I remember. Even if they had no plans for him to manage you've gotta find something to keep him happy. Total bull**** move.
