Very.

I sure hope Society doesnt collapse.

I live 50 feet from the beach and get to surf every day after work when we get waves...if not...I fish.

I work 3 miles from my condo.

Women, wealth and weed surround my everyday with booze filled weekends.

Its Football season...duh. I am going to the UF vs. LSU game this weekend. I will be meeting up with some old flings. I am going to the bar I used to work at on Sunday to watch the Jets.

Life is good. I sure dont want Society to Collapse...well...at least not until Monday.
Hi I currently teach in the business and economics departments in a college here in NYC along with being a practicing real estate attroney and Jet fan I had to get in.... This is just my take and not the gospel of course...

IMO, while some of the posters indicate this current crisis is no big deal that the current situation is like the recession of the 1970’s, or 80’s or what happened post 9/11, I disgaree. I want to make sure people out here, my fellow Jets fans, understand that this is fundamentally different situation.

I am not going to go into all of the reasons why but the gist is this, never before in American history have we produced so little while amassing such tremendous debt. Yea I know we are a service economy, "do you what fries with that sir." And while the pundits have lured everyone to believing that the current crises is a real estate crises (it is in part), what they have failed to tell you despite what you have been reading is just how deep the rabit hole truly goes.

Here is a brief article from the Institute for Americas Future www.ourfuture.org (liberal group) (but Pat Buchanan in his book "State of Emergency" said similar things) and while you might not agree with everything regardless of your political affiliation you should sense the seriousness of the current crises:

"Today, and tomorrow, and each day thereafter this nation must raise $2 billion
from foreign creditors. $700 billion a year—just to cover our annual trade deficit.
From somebody somewhere we must borrow or sell off assets totaling $700
billion a year. Who do we turn to? Primarily the central bankers of China or
Japan, or oil-rich autocrats. We are dependent on the kindness of strangers.
Other countries export goods; we export debt and jobs. Since 2000 we’ve
lost one out of five manufacturing jobs. Fully twenty million jobs are at risk.
For those that remain, wages and benefits actually declined over the last eight
years—a record in futility. We are now running a deficit with China in high
technology goods. Mexico now exports 50% more cars to the US than we export
to the entire world. The noose is tightening.
For three decades—whether the federal budget was in deficit or in surplus,
whether the dollar was strong or weak—these deficits kept rising. They can
no longer be sustained. Foreign central banks, gorging on US dollars, have set
up sovereign investment funds to buy into strategic US companies. We are in
danger of becoming, as Warren Buffett warns, “a nation of sharecroppers.”
Global economic integration is a fact of life. Let’s shut down the fraudulent
argument between “free trade” and “protectionism” and forge a global strategy
that works for working people, not just for the multinationals:
Start by slashing our trade deficit (nearly half of it’s from oil) with a concerted
drive for energy independence, investing in renewable energy technologies
and making the US a leader of innovative manufacturing once again;
Second: Invest in life-long education and training and build the most
modern and efficient infrastructure to increase our competitiveness;
Third: Regulate our commerce with mercantilist nations like China, while
pushing for global rules on labor rights and environmental protection that will
lift standards up around the world instead of driving them down here."

So there you have it and while I disagree with some of these ideas these are the issues that we should be debating but if you watch McCain or Obama or the news this stuff isn’t even addressed!!!!!!

Peace and God's Speed. We will be alright so long as we Keep the Faith Baby!!!!

If someone told you two months ago that you could buy GM stock at 1950's prices, you'd be pretty psyched.

Savvy, sensible people have become very wealthy during every "society crash" since (and including) the Great Depression.

The end of the world will be heralded by 3 things:

-the Jets get a HOF QB (check)
-the appearance of a 6-testicled philosopher (check!)
-the disappearance of all porn from the Internet

(Fishooked will singlehandedly never let that happen)

I think it's a combination of problems. I think people today and soceity in general wants everything now now now: gimme my news now! gimme my scores now! I don't want to wait I want it now!...this is the digital age. No one is willing to help another; everyone is greedy. Why? Because good deeds are not rewarded, at least not in this form of soceity. It pays to be a douchebag.

The funny thing to me is the investor's fear is what drives the market & think about it...if they got over that lame bull**** it would be better in the long run but people are morons.....people are sheep....I'm not anti-capitalist but I believe it's proven to be too easy to abuse from the higherarchy and the trickle down effect is crushing it's greatests strength: the middle-class..you know those people...the majority of the Americans with a minority of the power.

Wall st has become obsolete...a bunch yuppies arguing at yelling at each other...this is the basis of the world's money? No wonder aliens don't wanna come here...it's primitive at best...it's time for a change but no one will ever change...people are too greedy...everyone wants their 30 cents or 2 bucks...no one is willing to sacrifice some for the betterment of the country. I have two radical ideas...now...im not an expert but I think it may help..hear me out and then ridicule...you know I don't mind :):

1) Eliminate at least 1/2 of each Americans debt that is choking their income. Doing so would enable them so spend a little more on products to help stimulate the economy. People say well you're bailing them out..damn right..bail out the people. Those who were smart and frugal enough to have no debt...reward them by filling their pockets..help the people pay you back you guys up there on top...not like we're purposely NOT paying you, we just don't have it!

2) Credit freeze is already intact...keep it intact...what do you do with someone who has bad credit? Zero loans. Zero credit. America has bad credit. No more loans for anyone or anything with the exception of smaller loans for school & houses. No more new credit cards. ZERO. End it.

3) And this is my favorite....The ecnomy is **** but yet that dog from taco bell in Beverly Hills grosses 30M! opening weekend! 30M! So, my plan would be for every American over the age of 21 to donate 12 dollars every two weeks (or the price of a movie ticket) to an invest deemed safe and deemed essential to the regrowth of the ecnomy further stimulating confidence into the market.

Again...none of this will happen because people are too greedy but hey if it does happen...who wants to be my VP? Cop? SAR? EM? Ham?? Ragu? JetsSetter? Paulie?? hmm..

the reality is the market in general is not real..we make it real and if we don't fix this now...soon...well let's just say no foreign power can ever topple america....we'll do it to ourselves way before...greed is good right?...
