If Obama is a Christian, why doesn’t he Celebrate Christmas?
August 21, 2008 · 6 Comments

In a magazine interview Obama and his wife Michelle revealed that one of their steadfast house rules is not giving Christmas or birthday presents to Malia, 10, and Sasha, seven.
He also doesn’t celebrate his children Birthdays…He will only buy them a pet if he is elected.

These are signs that he has a little Muslim still left in him, because Muslims do not celebrate with gifts.

From this I get that if Obama is elected president that during Christmas there will be no Christmas tree at the White House and it will be dark! This goes right down the line of being a far left liberal because they have been trying to get rid of Christmas for sometime now.
Americans, do we really want a person like this as president?
Right... so DeanPatsFan is a supporter of the shameless and pedestrian American practice of completely degrading the Christian meaning of Christmas and going for the pagan practice of trees with funny little decorations, the wantonly commercialized spending spree and the failure of the vast majority of Americans to go anywhere near a church. Yeah, Barack is really a bad guy. He actually recognizes that Christmas is NOT about trading plastic crap to shore up the Chinese economy. Good call once again, from the Dumb and Dumber crew...

I don't think putting up a tree for his kids and giving them a gift or two is overly commercializing or degrading the meaning of Christmas. As a matter of fact, the giving of gifts originates from the three wisemen bringing gifts to baby Jesus. Barack doesn't do it. I guess that's the muslim way.....

Is he going to get rid of Christmas because he's a closet Muslim or closet Communist?

Closet Communist = good
Closet Muslim = bad

I truly could give a rats*ss about how people celebrate the holidays. I'm personally very happy to engage the pagan rituals with my family, including that solstice tree, Santa Claus, and, yes, exchanging gifts, although we've pretty well agreed that it's gotten completely out of hand and should be fun not a source of debt-accumulation and blatant materialism. But to set the record straight, this stuff has been a source of controversy in the church from the days of the Church fathers.... see some of the excerpts from Wikipedia below:

"The celebration of Christmas as a feast did not arise for some time after Chronographai was published. Tertullian does not mention it as a major feast day in the Church of Roman Africa. In 245, the theologian Origen of Alexandria denounced the idea of celebrating Christ's birthday "as if he were a king pharaoh". He contended that only sinners, not saints, celebrated their birthdays.[21]
During the Reformation, some Protestants[who?] condemned Christmas celebration as "trappings of popery" and the "rags of the Beast."[26] The Roman Catholic Church responded by promoting the festival in a more religiously oriented form. Following the Parliamentarian victory over King Charles I during the English Civil War, England's Puritan rulers banned Christmas, in 1647.[26] Pro-Christmas rioting broke out in several cities, and for weeks Canterbury was controlled by the rioters, who decorated doorways with holly and shouted royalist slogans.[26] The Restoration of Charles II in 1660 ended the ban, but many clergymen still disapproved of Christmas celebration.
In Colonial America, the Puritans of New England disapproved of Christmas. Celebration was outlawed in Boston from 1659 to 1681.
In America, interest in Christmas was revived in the 1820s by several short stories by Washington Irving which appear in his The Sketch Book of Geoffrey Crayon and "Old Christmas", and by Clement Clarke Moore's 1822 poem A Visit From St. Nicholas (popularly known by its first line: Twas the Night Before Christmas).[29] Irving's stories depicted harmonious warm-hearted holiday traditions he claimed to have observed in England. Although some argue that Irving invented the traditions he describes, they were widely imitated by his American readers. The poem A Visit from Saint Nicholas popularized the tradition of exchanging gifts and seasonal Christmas shopping began to assume economic importance.[30] In her 1850 book "The First Christmas in New England", Harriet Beecher Stowe includes a character who complains that the true meaning of Christmas was lost in a shopping spree.[31]

Originating from Western culture, where the holiday is characterized by the exchange of gifts among friends and family members, some of the gifts are attributed to a character called Santa Claus (also known as Father Christmas, Saint Nicholas or St. Nikolaus, Sinterklaas, Kris Kringle, Père Noël, Joulupukki, Babbo Natale, Weihnachtsmann, Saint Basil and Father Frost).
In past centuries, Christmas-related controversy was mainly restricted to concerns of a public focus on secular Christmas themes such as Santa Claus and gift giving rather than what is sometimes expressed as the "reason for the season"—the birth of Jesus. The term "Xmas", the subject of controversy during the mid-to-late 20th century, originated from the use of the Greek letter chi, Χ, as an abbreviation of Christ (Χριστός).[15]"

It's got NOTHING to do with "plastic crap" as you so eloquenlty put it....It has to do with the ongoing assault in this country towards anything Christian by the radical left, and that is EXACTLY what Osama is.

Ia am Catholic, I celebrate Christmas, my kids LOVE "plastic crap", and I vote.

Explain to me how this is an "assault on anything Christian." Is Obama imposing his Christmas celebrations on you and your family? Seems to me like you are taking issue with Obama's personal family values and traditions, and frankly, they are none of your business.

The problem is that many Christians feel that Christmas has been hijacked by commercialism and pagan foolery. As a pagan, I'm perfectly happy with the tree and the turkey and a new Lexus with a big bow on it (just kidding).... and of course your kids love plastic crap. But no one says that Christmas has to be when the plastic crap has to be dumped on them. You can do that any day of the year. Instead of "Easter" eggs, why not just have 'em hunt for Barbie dolls and Transformers? Then you would be a good American, a real patriot, and the Chinese will admire you...

Obama also hates puppies, rainbows, baseball and apple pie. With a Democratic congress, he will be unfettered in his attempt to abolish all of those early in his first term.

Yes, and of course he will require all male Republicans to wear burkas, just so we'll know who's who. I truly hate nonsense like this thread.
