Yes, were you?

Democrat President + Republican Congress has been good in the past. A Dem. Prez and Dem. Congress will be a disaster IMO.
Do you think I just am making this up?
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Omnibus_Budget_Reconciliation_Act_of_1993

* It created 36 percent and 39.6 income tax rates for individuals.
* It created a 35 percent income tax rate for corporations.
* The cap on Medicare taxes was repealed.
* Transportation fuels taxes were hiked by 4.3 cents per gallon.
* The taxable portion of Social Security benefits was raised.
* The phase-out of the personal exemption and limit on itemized deductions were permanently extended.

No. I know what he did. My point was simply that, when some Democrats say that the economy does best under a Democrat President they are leaving out the fact that there was a Republican Congress in place.

Look, I'm the last person to defend Bill Clinton but the 1997 Act got more Republican support than Democrat support and the 1993 Omnibus Budget Reconciliation Act also cut spending.

I'd be MUCH more comfortable with a Republican Congress and President Obama than a Democrat Congress and President Obama.

What part of taking the Capital Gains rate from 28% to 20% is not a tax cut?

Why am I arguing with someone who refuses to admit that they made a patently incorrect statement even after the facts are revealed?

I said there was a tax cut under Clinton. You said, "Clinton cut taxes? LOL"

Why am I arguing with someone who has no reading comprehension skills?

Reading comprehension skills? You said:
He cut taxes
Overall, he was a tax raiser and you tried to paint him as the opposite. Taxes went up during the Clinton years. Sorry.

Appreciate the apology but not necessary. I did not "paint him," I simply said that he has worked with a Republican Congress and had cut taxes (yes, I was referring to Capital Gains and other taxes). If you want argue that raising taxes and a Dem/Dem President/Congress will be better for the economy, I am all ears to hear that argument....and good luck making it.

You said Clinton cut taxes. When he cuts one one and raised many other significant taxes, he raised taxes, not cut taxes.

Well, I can't believe I'm sitting here at this computer screen, with the BBC coverage of the election going on in the background, with tears in my eyes.

.....I'm not even American and have never been to the USA.

Congratulations to Obama and to the people who voted for him - the result is truly historic in every way.
