Well, I can't believe I'm sitting here at this computer screen, with the BBC coverage of the election going on in the background, with tears in my eyes.

.....I'm not even American and have never been to the USA.

Congratulations to Obama and to the people who voted for him - the result is truly historic in every way.
He's a man, not a color. Why does it matter where his parents are from?

do you live in America? Are you familiar with her history? Just curious...to not see the importance and significance of this man becoming president would make you very out of touch.

You seem a lot smarter than that.

I have no idea what you are talking about?

McCain is showing what a great man he truly is and sadly 2000 was his year. I hope Obama includes him.

I don't think people should be patted on the back for voting a black man in. Not being racist is what you're supposed to do, it's not commendable quality. It should be the standard.

Nice speech. I wish he had beat out dubyah in 2000, we'd be a lot better off now...

The line about the most important association was especially classy. I have to think if he would have brought this kind of attitude to his campaign instead of constant negativity and divisiveness, this race would have been much closer. Great speech.

no one knew who he was....I must have talked to over three dozen people in the last few weeks at work and friends who were all Republican/Conservatives who did not want to vote for McCain. I would mention Barr and there would be crickets.
