I voted "increase the size of the government..." because I believe that is the plan.

Wait until they reach for your 401k's to fold into social security so the government can control all funds for retirees...
While I am concerned about this, I find reassurance from two things:

    1) Obama won an unbelievable mandate --literally, the most votes ever-- and his coattails are particularly powerful in relation to a congress with a 17% approval rating. Politically, he has all the leverage right now.

    2) Pelosi and Reid will also be somewhat constrained by the number of conservative dems now in their caucus. Their top political priority will continue to be maintaining their majority, and they need all those "blue dogs" from southern states to do it. If they veer too far left, they will lose those seats and they know it. .
Nuu, given population trends, it would be an upset if presidents didn't continue to get "the most votes ever" for the foreseeable future

Turnout was massive on a percentage-of-eligible voters basis as well (a record 64%), and his margin (about 7%) is probably going to wind up being the biggest since Bush I in 1988.

I think he will raise taxes (on more than he claimed).

I think he will grow the size and power of Government, taking more freedom from us, and placing that power in Govt.

Issue #1 and #2 why I could not support him.

I can understand both of those concerns..and they warrant close scrutiny on Obama.

Out of everything listed..taxes and growth of gov't are the issues to be concerned about.
How much bigger could Obama make our present gov't? GW has topped everyone before him.
Really? The government can't grow bigger? Get your head out of the sand.
