Obama was featured on 60 Minutes tonight...

And he impressed me. I didn't vote for him, & I disagree with him on every major issue... but he came across as very measured, & Presidential. His response to questions about the economic crisis were spot on, & he said he'll definately have at least one Republican in his cabinet. Every McCain voter should be rooting for Obama now, bc our country is in trouble.

maybe it would be easier to swallow for some people if we just said..root for America....

Seems like a good guy. It's just too bad his policies are incorrect.

Rooting for Obama will help our country? I beg to differ.

I'll be rooting for Obama TO help our country...his past voting record & some of the company he's kept definately worries me- but tonight's interview gave me some hope. He's a very smart man, & I am done bashing him until he does something worthy of it.

His policies haven't changed, and I believe them to be harmful, why should I root for him now?

I'm only referring to his economic policies- he can't raise taxes now...& as far as Iraq & the middle east are concerned, I bet that once he gets debriefed on how big the threat to our country really is, he wont be as willing to cut & run. This could all be wishful thinking on my part, but again..his interview tonight made me optimistic about him "for the first time in my adult life"....(Michelle O'b...)

He should have worn a shorter tie.

He will raise taxes now. I don't think you watched the interview closely enough.

He said something to the effect of "both conservatives and liberals have come to the consensus that we must help the economy in any way we can." (hint hint, taxes are going up).

He also said he didn't care about adding to the deficits to stimulate the economy. (Is this going to stimulate the economy like the $700 billion Failout did?)

I think we do need to stimulate the economy...he's referring to another stimulus package, similar to the one Bush sponsored earlier this year..this swknd's Barron's had an 8 point plan that I thought made sense- short term, we have to get confidence back, & the govt can help do that. But Obama cant raise the corporate tax rate next year, nor can he raise the capital gains tax..

i'm hittin the sack, or going to try to...my 4 month old is crying in the next room ...goodnight

He finally said something I agree with him on. He's for College football playoffs.

That is exactly what I said at the time.

Well, at least we'll get two things.......a decent public speaker and a college playoffs, eh.

You should be willing to entertain the possibility that his policies are right and that yours may be wrong. Hell, the rest of us have been hoping that whatever else happened with Bush our 401k's would at least be OK. The right is always suggesting that liberals are rooting for the troops to lose and the economy to fail -- what do you think now that the shoe is on the other foot?

Oh. So for the past 8 years the Republicans were just warming up?

I have no idea what you mean here. Sorry.

My only point was that it's pretty laughable for some of our resident Libs to start the "you should consider your ideas might be wrong" talk, when they themselves have never, in any form, shown a similar level of humility or open-mindedness.

I'm open to ideas. I posted an idea once. Then I was told I was an idiot who wanted socialism and I was voting got Obama because he was black.

Oh, also that I didn't love America and I wanted to see us lose in Iraq.

And I was an elitist because I thought Palin was less that brilliant.

It's just not worth it sometimes.

I don't. Unless I see something really egregiously hypocritical.

Then you'd be posting an awful lot in this forum.

Yet we don't see that, do we?

    Nope, we sure don't. Hmmmm.......
