Thread: Stay classy, Saxby Chambliss.

    Stay classy, Saxby Chambliss.
Now this is really something. The NRSC and Freedom's Watch are now airing ads in the Georgia Senate runoff accusing Democratic candidate Jim Martin of being against cracking down on people who abuse and prey on children.

The problem: Martin's own daughter was abducted when she was eight years old. Fortunately, she was returned safely. When asked for comment by Election Central, the NRSC declined to comment on this little wrinkle in the story.

    Here's the NRSC's ad:

And Freedom's Watch has this ad:

The Martin campaign, as one might expect, is rather revolted by this development.

"Jim Martin has never forgotten the horror of coming face-to-face with violent crime. That's why he spent his career working to protect Georgia's children and families," Martin spokesperson Kate Hansen said in a press release. "Georgians will reject Chambliss' false personal attacks because they know that Jim Martin always stands up to protect Georgia families."

The Martin campaign is firing back with this ad, in which Martin speaks to the camera about the experience of his daughter's abduction:

The ad is not yet on the air; decisions are currently being made about when it will go up. "Saxby will have to wait and see," Martin spokesperson Matt Canter told Election Central.

From a pretty lefty site (the comments, for example, are pretty far out there), but the truth is still the same: Saxby Chambliss is an absolute **** of a man who should be nowhere near our government. This is the dashing young lad who juxtaposed Max Cleland (the triple amputee war vet Max Cleland) and Osama bin Laden in an earlier ad in an earlier election cycle. Back in the day when John McCain was an actual maverick, he called Chambliss out on that. Now he's stumping for him. Chambliss obviously hasn't changed.

Saxby Chambliss is and always has been a scumbag.

The guy won his seat in 2002 by questioning the patriotism of Max Cleeland, a triple amputee war veteran.

Chambliss is a low-life who got 5 deferments to avoid the draft for Vietnam. Somehow, he's still more patriotic than Max Cleland who lost his legs in Vietnam. He'll get reelected because it's Georgia but wow is this guy a piece of human garbage.

Chambliss joins the elite club of republicans with 5 or more draft deferments from Vietnam including Dick Cheney and John Ashcroft. These are supposed to be the tough guys who know how to kick ass - just don't ask them to do it themselves.

I was unaware that serving your country required a Draft.

But no worries, I am sure that in organizing his community, he truly served our Nation.

As I am sure he will serve us now.

Yet you voted for a socialist with past associations to terrorists and shady characters over a bona fide American War hero who was there when duty called....

I think you missed the point. The Republican party is full of individuals who jump up and down and talk tough but who are/were too scared to serve themselves. Do you remember the weasel in elementary school who used to jump up and down egging on others while they fought? But, that same kid was afraid of getting into a fight himself? Well, that kid eventually grows up into a Cheney, Bush, Chambliss, etc. These men are the very definition of cowards.

Well Starfish, considering that Obama was 11 years old when the Paris Peace Accords ended direct US involvement in Vietnam in 1973 it would have been mighty impressive if he had actually gone there.

I guess not everyone can be as tough as George W. Bush.

No point trying to make sense. Somehow after years of listening to draft dodgers like Rush Limbaugh, New Gingrich, Pat Buchanan on tv and radio and voting for draft dodgers like Bush, Cheney, Rumsfled, Ashcroft and Saxby Chambliss somehow voting for McCain has completely redeemed conservatives for voting over and over again for a bunch of spineless neoconservative chickenhawks who want to send your kids and your kids' kids to Iraq.

Oh I understand... He was referring to Chickenhawks. You know, draft dodgers that get in office, then wage war.

It seems to me that BJ bombed the hell out of Serbia, no?

Yeah but unlike your heroes in the GOP he actually was against the Vietnam War. He didn't support the war like Cheney and then get 5 deferments or run behind a slot in the nasty guard like George W. Bust.

And how many Americans died in Serbia vs. how many in Iraq?
