War on Christmas....bwahahhahah!! I cant help but laugh when i hear that idiotic phrase. Seriously, people must really be simple minded if they believe in a "war on christmas".

Seriously though, Christmas has been destroyed by corporate America a long time ago. Christmas is simply a religious Christian holiday celebrating the birth of Jesus. It has nothing to do with Christmas trees, exchanging overpriced gifts, Santa Claus, eggnog, office parties etc... People who talk about the "war on christmas" should be more upset that a religious holiday has been totally comercialised and has lost its meaning in this nation. You want to celebrate Christmas, go to midnight mass on the 25th and think about what Jesus taught...you know stuff like, love your enemy, turn the other cheek and not pointing out the splinter in others eyes when you cant see the log in your own..

    BTW Happy Holidays
This is why the United States of America has become a disgrace. I respect and greatly admire the troops whole-heartedly, but that's it. This country sucks. Just wait it's going to get much worse. There is no longer pride in the American flag whatsoever. The American flag should be flown no other way than upside down as this is a country in great distress. You wouldn't know the difference if it was Bill Maher or not making these decisions.

God is no longer for this country and any God-fearing person will recognize that statement as truth. America is on a path to sure destruction, and there is no remedy available to Her anymore. She was once a great nation, like Sodom and Gomorrah, blessed with great prosperity and power not before seen in the modern world. And, like Sodom and Gomorrah, she has spit in the face of God until His wrath has been brought down upon her with fierce anger.
All of this because some Christmas lights and tinsel were removed? Yup, we're all going to hell and K-Mart is coming with us!
Take it easy there chief, there are people all over this place that devout their lives to organize religon. What i don't understand is why people criticize and take shots at them for it, they are living their lives the way they want to live it. No need to mock their beliefs. I never understood that why people would take shots at that. Thats like people taking shots at others who are middle class because they don't have enough money...its people trying to live their lives and make a living, who cares what they believe or don't believe...and if you disagree with it go ahead, but theres no need to mock them.
Get back to me when it's possible for an atheist to run for president.

BTW...have you ever read the bible or attended church? Have you heard/seen what so-called believers say about people they perceive as being heathens, sinners, non-believers etc.?

You see, it isn't alright for me to point out their beliefs in a Jewish zombie as being ridiculous but it's OK for them to accuse secularists of being the downfall of society, that we are responsible for the ills of the world because we don't subscribe to their god and that we are going to burn in hell for an eternity while anguishing in torment.
All true.

The disagreement here is that the vast majority do not feel that their celebrations, which have been ingrained in American Culture for over 200 years, should be wiped clean from public view, in order to possibly maybe prevent any number of the small minorities to possably be "offended" over others celebrating their own, and not their, holiday.

Look, no one is less religios-based than I. But I find the ideal today of "all must be equal, or none shal be shown" political correctness to be assinine. Like it or not, the vast vast majority either celebrate Christmas in some form.

To remove all references to it for fear a Wiccan might be pissed off because it's "Christmas Parade" and not "Winter Solstice Parade" is, in my view, assinine.

we have become a country ruled, in almost every way, by the minority.
So Main Street can still have its lights and snowflake decorations. And private citizens can still decorate their homes in any way they please. And churches can put out their kreshes and decorate them with fake snow... that's how holidays that mean many things to many people should be handled in a country that protects against the establishment by government of state religion. Your argument is frankly empty, unless you feel that because a majority exists for an idea that is offensive to some and likely unconstitutional should prevail because of numbers. Odd that you should be arguing such a majoritarian, anti-libertarian position...

    what's his point?

He insulted the original poster as a simpleton (that would be me btw)

He assumes all that are disturbed by the elimination of the word Christmas or Hannakuh by many during the holiday season are only effected by the lack of decorations. Does he know how these people spend their Christmas, whether or not they actually attend Mass? No he jumps to the liberal side an attacks those who hold American traditions dear as fools, elitists, or full of ****.

I see a point but I'm not saying where.

I've been to one religious affair in a church in the last six years. During the baptism of my niece the fat slob who performed the ceremony found the time to say everything that PK just suggested. Out of respect for my sister I refrained from walking out or telling the fat slob how stupid she really was. A solid percentage, I have no way to put an exact number on it, believe they are the salvation of the world and that non-believers and believers of other religions are Satan's armies on the march.

Actually I meant the part of his post about how corporate America has already destroyed Christmas. There's no denying that.

And many if not most people who celebrate Christmas do not go mass.

BTW don't take me for a bleeding heart who wants to rename everything for the sake of "fairness." I find that to be extremely foolish.

    Exactly.

Jesus wouldn't complain about Holiday talk being yanked from the public square. I mean, how did Jesus celebrate the Last Supper? In city hall with Pontius Pilate ordering all the walls to be decorated? No...he celebrated in quietly in someones house.

Follow Jesus example instead of telling other people to follow...

Yes, I agree Christmas is over commercialized, and I fear this could be one of the toughest seasons ever as far as that is concerned in light of the economy. My point is there is more to Christmas than that, and I don't have to be a holy roller or preacher to find it insulting that traditions associated with the holiday are now found to be intolerable due to the fact that not everyone celebrates.

I don't complain during Ramadam, or the Jewish holiday season in the fall, why is the Christmas season so disturbing to so many people? To those that are atheist, fine, that is your choice and I don't begrudge them, I still do not consider myself delusional.

btw, I was not taking you for a bleeding heart, I just picked your post to respond to.
And not believing in anything that you can't touch is often a sign of being a simpleton.
And this quote actually hits the nail on the head...

We can't touch air, yet we believe it exists. Does that mean all 100 percent of the population are simpletons?

FIrst off, I agree with you on the first part Kenny....absolutely.

But the issue with the 'war on Christmas,' to me, is more about this whole political correctness that is more about this: the humanist/secularist movement to erasing religion.

This is more to do with that that ticks me off. You don't believe in God? Fine, we shall have a holiday for atheists...but don't try to eliminate the Christmas holidays becuase you don't like the fact that it celebrates (on the wrong day I might add) the birth of Christ....deal with it, that 3 billion people celebrate his birthday. When there are three billion people celebrating Freidrech Neitsche, Billy Joel, Richard Dawkins, Bertrand Russell, birthday's, then we'll talk.

The rub here is not about celebrating Christmas. Every citizen has the right to celebrate/decorate to their heart's content. The issue is whether a specific religious holiday should be promoted by federal or state-funded institutions. The answer in the US is obviously: "No." If 100 million americans want to celebrate Christmas on their front lawns and in their churches, who's stopping them? The answer: "Nobody." This is a bogus issue.
