Jets get the 17th pick in the Draft!

    Preliminary Draft order

The draft order is generally based on each team's regular season record, as follows:
The team that wins Super Bowl XLIII receives the last selection. The team that loses receives the second-to-last selection.
The remaining teams are sorted in reverse order of regular-season records, regardless of playoff status.
For teams with the same regular-season record, teams that did not make the playoffs pick before teams that earned playoff berths.
For teams that did not make the playoffs, remaining ties are broken by strength of schedule (SOS). A team's strength of schedule is the combined records of its opponents, including games played against the team in question, counting teams against which the team played two games twice.
If strength of schedule does not resolve a tie, division and/or conference tiebreakers are used. #Any remaining ties are broken by a coin toss at the NFL Combine.
For teams that make the playoffs, ties are broken by the order in which teams lost in the playoffs. If teams lost in the same round, strength of schedule is applied.
Please note this table does not give the actual current order of the first round (including draft trades), only the preliminary draft order based on the results of the 2008 regular season and the playoffs. Team names in bold indicates that the team qualified for playoffs.

    PACKERS GET THIRD-ROUNDER FOR FAVRE
Posted by Mike Florio on December 28, 2008, 9:15 p.m.
With the Jets not making the playoffs, the terms of compensation for the trade that brought quarterback Brett Favre to New York are complete. Nearly.

As Adam Schefter of NFL Network points out, the Packers will get a third-round pick for Favre.

The base value of the trade was a fourth-round pick. With Favre playing in more than 50 percent of the teamís offensive snaps, the pick upgraded to a third-round selection.

But as Schefter pointed out in August, the Jets will get a seventh-round pick back from the Packers in 2010 if Favre retires after one season with the Jets.

The Jets will have the 16th pick, due to their extremely easy schedule.

9-7 teams. Jets win in SOS.
New York Jets (9-7) [.4705 opp. win %]
    Chicago (9-7) [.4765 opp. win %]
    Tampa Bay (9-7) [.4803 opp. win %]
    Dallas (9-7) [.5020 opp. win %]
    Arizona (9-7) [.4882 opp. win %] - NFC #4 Seed

This is assuming San Diego doesn't blow it and let Denver go 9-7.

I believe we get the Saints 3rd round pick & they get our 4th round pick.

Dear Jets, whomever you plan on picking 17th, please do the opposite. Thank you.

Now we can trade that 17th pick down to a 3rd round pick and pick up Oakland's punter...

Probably. lol! my mind has been on the jets trying to get in the playoffs and nothin else really. I thought the jets were playoff bound this year for sure. I wont lie to you.

Our team doesn't need a marquis player, and unless a "can't miss" wide receiver falls to us then this team seriously needs to look at fortifying the linebacker positions and if possible the DE position.
