    To those who want Cowher......

My Pick for the next HC of NYJ should be Mike Westhoff...

He wanted the HC job before Mangini was hired and he was angry he did not get the job and originally wanted out.. but Mangini and Tannenbaum talked him into sticking around...

I love the way the guy always has the ST prepared and he really seems to have his guys fully prepared game in, game out... for example.. Leon's out of bounds play a few weeks back...

the guy huddles up his guys and fires them up before every kickoff and just seems like a motivator and accountability is a big thing with that man...

he knows the players.. he knows football..... he is my pick for next HC or NYJ

I don't know about Westhoff....would he want it now? Is his health/family more important to him than a 20 hour per day HC job?

I'd have no problem with it if he was promoted.

    Mangini is staying...

Hopefully anyway.. Woody scares me because he may get an itchy trigger finger.

He'll go back and ask Tannenbaum what he thinks, and Tannenbaum will say to keep Mangini. They are close, always have been.

You don't hire a new guy like Mangini only to give him 3 years. That is stupid... You bring a guy like him on with the idea of giving him 4 years or more. Plus Mangini will go somewhere else and become another Belichick if he gets a QB. If he has the ability to win a super bowl, the Jets should just stick with him. Personally I think Mangini has the ability to win a super bowl. May as well just keep him here.

And for those who want Cowher, give me a break... The guy is a waste. Steelers fans wanted him fired for years and if he coached in NY, he would have been fired. I don't want to sit around for 10 years and watch Cowher. Give Mangini a couple more years and we'll be a big time factor.

Hi Ted, I hope you and your son enjoyed the game today. How were the tickets (I forget, did you use the 329 or 338 pair)?

I hope you guys had a great time though even though the outcome wasn't so great.

    Thanks.

We had the 329 pair. Nice seats. THANKS!

We did enjoy ourselves. We bonded nicely. I don't get many chances to hang with him. When he's home he's out most of the time. He's not even home now.

I love the job Westhoff does with the special teams, but I'm afraid it stops there. He is a specialist coach, and we took a risk giving a specialist coach a head coaching gig before: Herm Edwards. In fact, I think it's a comparison worth making: both are great motivators who do a good job coaching players at their positions. But Herm was in over his head and I believe Westhoff would be as well.

We have a lot of talented players so I would like to see us go with a coach who is more probable to be solid rather than a gamble on a coach who could be great and could be awful or anywhere in between. Spagnolo or Rob Ryan are at the top of my list.

Yes he is a fantastic ST coach. But he has zero coordinator experience. Just like Herm, and for the most part, Eric. Westoff is not HC material. If not for his lack of offense or defense coaching, but because of his health history. Yes Cowher started out in ST, but he was in his 20s. The next coach should be very passionate, fiery type personality and no I am not referring to Herm's rah rah stuff. He also needs to have experience coaching O or D. If Cowher declines, than go after Spagnuolo or Schwartz.

When exactly? People keep saying that. How do you know? Are you in the locker room, practices, etc.? But the fact is we sucked. All of them.

I agree Mangini should come back, but the Bellichek reference was wack and premature. I do believe he can produce a winner year in and year out though.

Was your coma medically induced right before this season or even prior to that?

I want the job too... more than "I think" Mangini does. Doesn't make me qualified. Wanting the job shouldn't be the primary evaluator in deciding who gets the job, Westhoff is a good candidate... but that is all he is right now. I'll decide who I want, once it becomes clear who the true candidates are.

Right now, I can't imagine advocating Westhoff over Cowher, Rex Ryan or Spagnulo. These 3 guys have much higher ceilings imo.

i tend to agree on keeping mangini. there are a couple of reasons. first off, bringing in a new guy will necessarily tear down everything that has been just built. give mangini and tannenbaukm some credit for getting good players. secondly, where is the proof that mangini has lost the lockroom? if he has then i agree that he must go but remember that coughlin had the same problem two season's ago with tiki and shockey. how'd that work out. third, why did the jets ultimately fail? because they tried to rely on favre to win the last 5 games. favre played very poorly. if mangini is at fault, it's because he didn't have the stones to bench favre. maybe that wouldn't have helped but at least you put your best possible team on the field. and if favre (at qb the last 5 games) is the best team then why are the jets keeping guys like clemens or ratliff around. finally, mangini has put up with faily average assistants. schotty doesn't have a feel for the game and sutton doesn't get his players to play right. now in schotty's defense he had to deal with favre's ego but he didn't do very well last season either.

and one last word about chad. the doltfins use the wildcat because chad simply can not throw a deep ball. just about every deep pass he threw yesterday was underthrown. they need motion offenses like the wildcat simply to get their receivers free. if chad had an arm, you would not see the wildcat.

Why not just type "I don't have anything clever to say."
